The restoration of a 1930s Georgian Revival residence in Melbourne by Fiona Lynch Office celebrates craftsmanship and timeless design. Decades of discordant changes were removed to restore clarity while preserving original decorative features like fireplace mantels and elegant arches with corbels. A new glass pavilion radically transforms family living, connecting the kitchen to the woodland garden and filling the home with natural light. Bold stone elements define remodelled bathrooms and a robust travertine-marble kitchen island. The design integrates original features with contemporary updates, including custom oak finishes, mismatched stone panels and sculptural staircases, creating a seamless balance between classic elegance and modern living.

This gorgeous home on 130 acres is located in Millbrook, in the Hudson Valley. Designed by Cicognani Kalla Architect it is country living at its finest. The great room has two 18th century stone fireplaces, limestone tile floors, and custom French doors. The kitchen opens right up onto fabulous gardens and a stone terrace. It has a heated greenhouse, wine cellar, chicken coop, and outbuildings include caretaker’s home and office. I also found that in December of last year it was for sale for $13.1M. What a dream!

Classic, yet unique and unexpected. Livable. Legit antiques, cool vintage, modern art, good bones, texture and materials, custom and found….
Next level sophistication and spaces for every possible need, including relaxing, drinking, dining, chilling, sleeping, lounging, smoking, cleaning…. I am obsessed with the stick figure art grouping in the living room (by Jean-Marc Louis). Pacific Heights I by Lisa Hilderbrand. Photos: John Merkl.

Bright and airy transformation

The transformation of Mosman House has created a bright, airy coastal residence. Initially focusing on structural improvements, the clients seized the chance to craft a home reflecting their lifestyle. Emphasizing beauty and functionality, Sydney-based studio Partridge Daniels redesigned the layout for better light and flow. A natural palette enhances the aesthetic. Notable features include a marble kitchen island, a scalloped fireplace, and a wool installation. Improved staircases, enlarged bedrooms, and a basement gym complete the transformation.
