Work?

Posted on Wed, 5 Oct 2011 by midcenturyjo

Work? Really? In a fab office space like this? With a candy bar and table tennis, moss gardens and concrete gold fish bowls? Really? Work? I’m in the wrong job. How cool is this office space designed by artist and interior designer Teresa Leung created for Toronto based IT start up company Archon Systems? Now if I knew anything about IT I’d be polishing up my résumé looking for a job.

LOVE

I love everything about this space. Black and white main colour scheme, graphic art, little bits of orange, large coffee table for vignetting….

This view isn’t so great because those pouffy stools are kind of hideous but the rest rocks.

The white house

Posted on Tue, 4 Oct 2011 by KiM

It’s been a long time since we’ve featured the work of interior designer Sera Hersham-Loftus (way back here and here). Sera’s designs are unlike those of any other designer I have ever come across. She is the queen of the boudoir look – seductive, glam, romantic and best of all, completely over-the-top. The following is a home in her portfolio she has dubbed The White House and I fell in love with it. It’s a bit more subdued than her typical designs and far more realistic and achievable. (Tomorrow, more spaces by Sera…but darker and brighter)

Congrats Camilla

Just had to pop back to say congratulations to the lovely Camilla Molders on making the Top 50 Rooms 2011 as judged by Australian House & Garden. The smile that stretched across my face as I flicked through the magazine and thought “I know that room, I know that designer. We’ve drunk too much together.” Well deserved Camilla. (This photo is snagged from the magazine website and is by Derek Swalwell. Camilla if you have a larger file we’d love to have it so I can upload it nice and big.)

Vintage style … Empirical Style

Posted on Tue, 4 Oct 2011 by midcenturyjo

Life is too short for dull decor. Or so the duo behind Empirical Style, Steve and Helena Trupp believe. Take a look at their Sydney apartment. Too cool for school! Filing cabinet and locker storage, train station memorabilia, X-rays in the kitchen, drawers on the walls, leather chesterfields, toucans, vintage posters and porcelain birds complete with painted droppings. Quirky to the max and full of fun. If you click over to the website Aussie readers may just recognise Steve as one of the final three designers on the recently aired Top Design.

P.S. While you are on the site check out the online shop. Vintage style Edison light bulbs Aussie readers? Yes please. Please forgive me. As much as I want to embrace CFLs I go weak at the knees for a good old Edison. CFLs are sooooooo ugly.
