Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 26 Mar 2012 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

My wife thinks our dog is a princess.

I’ve never let her sit on this chair. Bet I won’t be able to get her off it now that I’ve given her the idea.

This is 16 year old Teenie Tiny, who is no longer tiny, on my $20.00 Eames chair, her favorite.
– Mary (Colorado)

From the left, my friend Val’s Pit Bull, Lupe (9 month). My friend Noemie’s American Bulldog , Kala (2 years ½) And the last …BUT NOT THE LEAST, The love of my life (after my husband) My French bulldog Hugo (1 years ½), celebrating the Irish Day in my back yard.

This is Chico, our proper Chihuahua on my favorite chair. He requires comfort and luxury at all times. We are more than happy to oblige.

Hank’s our little guy. He runs the show around our house. Alli is our precious cocker spaniel. Sweetest dog ever.

Here is Hazel on top on my Ikea sofa that has a new Bemz slipcover. Hazel always likes to sit on the top like that. Smithy is peeking at the camera too.

The Shi-tsu in the pictures is Mocha. Mocha is lounging and suntanning on an antique chair that has been reupholstered in Dwell fabric. In the last attached picture, my husband painted a portrait of Mocha which graces our fireplace mantle!

My diva westie, Bayley, on her red throne (chair).

This is my puppy ‘Poochie’ posing on my Tessa lounge chair.

Cat’s name is Mac. I do a lot of work on my computer and he is ALWAYS nearby.
– Jennifer (Murrieta, CA)

this is sweet bruno {aka big head} after a long hike in the foothills behind his home in southern california. he is a 150 lb great dane and a — very loved — rescue pup. when he first came to his mama lisa’s home, he was very anxious and sad after losing his first family. he used to pull out most of the stuffing of the sofa, but he eventually stopped. now, he just uses the sofa as his bed and is a happy, relaxed boy.
– joey {lisa’s friend} (orange county, CA)

Lily is a lab mix lounging at Grandma’s house after a walk in the desert.

Evan Sklar encore

Posted on Mon, 26 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

My how time gets away from you! 5 years since we featured photographer Evan Sklar‘s work. 5 years of catching up to do. What I love about Sklar’s portfolio is the diversity. Whether minimalist and white or overstuffed and casually faded he seems to “get” a room. He captures efficiently what he needs to, yet tells its story well. It’s a story of family and friends and fine things. About pride in your house. Special touches and dreams.

Swedish real estate stalking

Posted on Sun, 25 Mar 2012 by KiM

I have been siiiiiiiiiick all weekend and have zero energy to do all the things I need to get done – including blogging. So I thought instead of spending lots of time scouring blogland for my weekly favs, I would instead share this awesome Swedish apartment with you today. Hope you’re all having a better weekend than I am, one not involving an entire box of tissue and coughing up a couple lungs.

Beach shack stalking

Posted on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 by midcenturyjo

Summer has gone but there is time for one last visit to the beach shack. The thud of surf decreasing as you walk barefoot back from a long day in and out of the ocean. Cicadas sing incessantly as you hop from foot to foot on the hot asphalt. Ouch! Casuarina seed pods are sharp. Don’t forget to wash the sand from your feet and don’t dump those towels at the front door! There’s a nip in the air as the shadows fall across the back yard. Stalking two beach shacks at the oh so expensive enclave of Pearl Beach, north of Sydney where all the streets are named after gems and you need a king’s ransom to buy a house. The first backs onto bush and is a stroll to the beach. A fibro shack with a price tag of just under $700K. The second, also a fibro shack, but in the best street in town, backing onto a lagoon and just across the road from the beach is… over $1.5 million. Beach shacks! But super cool ones don’t you think? We’ll just dream about owning them and having all our friends to stay weekends. Or maybe you’ll buy one and have me to stay? Links here and here while they last.

Colour

Posted on Fri, 23 Mar 2012 by KiM

Just another quick home before we head into the weekend. The owners of this one are not afraid of colour. The colours they chose for their walls are beautiful. But oddly enough they left the easiest rooms to bathe in colour (in my humble opinion anyway) in neutrals – kitchen, bathroom and dining room. My favourite is the magenta bedroom. SWOON!
