Swedish born designer Anna-Carin McNamara of Sydney design firm Anna Carin Design has taken an historic terrace house in Bondi junction and filled it full of stylish Scandinavian goodness with just enough Australian contemporary style to make it a perfect fit for modern, metropolitan living. Form, function and flair. Love it!

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!
I received a pet entry from Annik that included so many photos of her pets – mostly rescued cats and dogs that she fosters – that I thought these animals needed their own post. Annik’s home is beautiful, and the animals she has saved look like they are living the easy-going life they finally deserve.

Zizou hangs out on New Year’s Day morning, awaiting great excitement from a newfound perch. Chair from West Elm, lamp from Ikea, enormous plant from who-knows-where.

A few weeks after losing my 13-1/2 year-old greyhound boy, Ender (who only once got up on the furniture and was featured in tribute here, I adopted Penny, a 15-month old greyhound girl, who is filling in the empty spot Ender left. Penny has selected one of my vintage rattan chairs as her favorite. The first photo is of Penny in her fierce “watch dog” pose by the window, in case she opens her eyes, she can “watch” something. The second one, I call “bottoms up”, for obvious reasons.

I headed home to Wisconsin for the holidays and got to meet my mother’s new puppy, Charley. Charley was showing me how he likes to play the organ and make everyone smile!
