Latest projects from 2Kul

Posted on Tue, 15 Jan 2013 by KiM

Back in June Jo shared a funky shabby chic/scandi home by Polish interior design firm 2Kul. This firm is at it again, and this time they have taken on the design of 2 apartments in a country home just outside Wrocław, in their signature black/white/natural palette (my fav!) and modern/shabby/scandi style (again my fav!). So warm and cosy…and somewhat exotic. A great vibe.

More please

Posted on Tue, 15 Jan 2013 by midcenturyjo

I’d like to see more please. I know that the new building has been designed to impact on the landscape as little as possible but I want to take a virtual walk through. See more of those stone walls, that dark bedroom, the retro furniture. Just a little bit more. Barn extension by Toulouse-based Puig Pujol architectures.

Nicole Hollis encore

Posted on Tue, 15 Jan 2013 by midcenturyjo

More than four years since I featured work by interior designer Nicole Hollis and her studio? I need to rectify that! Two projects. Two styles. One sophisticated and modern in black and white. The other a playful colour riot, a tongue in cheek take on San Francisco icons for a boutique hotel fitout. The first seriously sleek and sexy, the other seriously fun (that’s Jack Kerouac’s  On the Road as wallpaper).

Anders Jungermark

I thought I’d start the week off with a bang. I came across the portfolio of Swedish phtoographer Anders Jungermark recently and was completely wowed with every single photo. His composition, lighting, focus and post processing are perfection. He could shoot a rock and I would be in awe. But you didn’t come here to see rocks. 🙂

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 14 Jan 2013 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.comand PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

I would love to share a photo of our dog Toto. We always have a hard time photographing Toto because he is a jet black color, but we think we found just the right spot. We also just noticed that he is totally posing with one leg up on the arm of the chair!

Dog: Walter the Westie enjoying some morning sun, as its been quite cold here lately
Cat: Maggie finding a spot next to some plants so she can chew on the leaves

Hello, this is my little Sawyer. She’s a 9 month old frenchie who’s obsessed with my couch. More so than I am it seems. We both do take pretty good naps on it.

I shot this cutie-patootie at a friends’ house this afternoon…

I send 3 pictures of my rabbit because I couldn’t decide which one I love the most. He’s a sweet bunny, his name is Kakarot and he loves to jump over our furniture. Fortunately he never destroys any of it! I’m an architect and my mother is an interior design, we are from Brazil and we just love this charming armchair!

Mei-Mei was adopted as a kitten from Toronto Cat Rescue who is allowed on almost all the furniture. Finnegan is a Labrador Retriever who graciously accepts Mei-Mei’s dominant alpha leader position.

I have a couple of extra entries for you today. First up, some really cool DIY recycled pet beds that Joanne made for the DIY network – a picnic basket, a drawer and an office chair.

I received an email back from Annik of last week’s second pet post.
Yes, the fluffy grey cat sitting on the wooden chair is really that huge. I’ve recently found another picture of hers in my archive, this one should make things clear as far as size is concerned…And by the way: The pictures have actually been taken in two different houses I’ve lived in the past few years.

(LOL!!!)
