I love the modern, graphic feel of the work of international interiors stylist and creative director Louisa Grey. Eclectic and stylish. Pattern, contrast, a sense of illustration.

A compact kitchen

Thanks to Minosa Design for sharing with us yet another impressive project. This time it’s a kitchen that is high on style yet low on space. The brief: To create a clean & modern kitchen one that catered to modern living requirements. The space had to integrate a home office & laundry as well as an everyday eating area for at least two. As far as layout goes there really was not a lot of flexibility with the footprint of the kitchen, it could not be changed or relocated. It was a matter of making use of the available space and organising the zones so they would function efficiently for this family.

The designer chose to place the tall run of joinery items under the existing bulkhead (carpenters had recently commenced renos). This was the first thing on view when entering the terrace. These full height doors house the laundry nook, home office (behind pocket bi-folding doors) & integrated refrigerator.

Damon Liss

Are classy mid-century modern spaces your thing? Then I think you’ll appreciate the work of New York interior designer Damon Liss. His portfolio is packed with stunning mid-century furnishings, and some beautiful timber pieces that I’m completely drooling over. It’s a step back in time but on the other hand timeless and elegant. Some chair porn never hurts. 🙂

Bah humbug!

Thought I’d show you the extent of my Christmas decorations for this year. Brass candlesticks, white candles, box of matches. Done! I think I’m over the whole Christmas thing already. I will, however, never be over the whole fire thing 😉

South Hampton simplicity

Posted on Tue, 3 Dec 2013 by midcenturyjo

Cecilia Dupire’s South Hampton house is a study in stylish simplicity. Dupire, of design firm Cezign, has taken a 60s home and played with volume and view, connecting inside and out. No gut renovation though. Those parts of the home that drew her to the property in the first place with their charm and honesty have been retained. Cezign’s ZIG range of furniture provides seating flexibility throughout the home. No Hamptons cliché here. A home of familiarity and charm.
