Thomas Kuoh

It’s been a bit of a crazy, strange week. A co-worker has been at the hospital all week because he left a health issue linger for months uncared for (I won’t get into the gory details, but it’s had me totally freaking out), one of my cats is really sick and the vet doesn’t know what it is, my husband saved a cat’s life yesterday, and I spent the evening baking for a potluck lunch at work. I never bake – I never have time. I did it in between blogging. While I wait for these cookies to cool, I picked some glorious photos from the portfolio of San Francisco photographer Thomas Kuoh to show you today. Hope you enjoy.

In December 2010, Nicole Lamac found her “forever home” in Victoria, BC. She’s been documenting the process over on her blog The House Diaires, and recently featured her laundry/mudroom and main floor bathroom renovations. They are FAB-U-LOUS!!!! Let me show you….

The bathroom was a peach nightmare, and had a terrible layout. They started from scratch with the plumbing so were able to redesign the space.

Oh YEAH

Herringbone carrera and white subway tiles…how could you go wrong with that?!?!

That was pretty freaking fabulous. Now check out Nicole’s laundry/mudroom. It started out as a 12′ x 10′ bedroom on the main floor.

And turned into this…

A window was switched out for a door. The floor is covered in 20″x20″ semi-polished porcelain with a look similar to polished concrete, and it’s heated. In the freaking mudroom. BOOM.

How about this cute little corner for jacket/shoe/mitten storage? Love it.

I can’t wait to see what she does with the rest of her house!

Georgia Cannon

Brisbane based interior designer and “new kid on the block” Georgia Cannon has breathed life into an old timber worker’s cottage. A crisp white shell is the canvas for splashes of bright colour. Simple and stylish and, believe it or not, for the rental market. Some tenants get great landlords it seems. A tight budget but a standout investment property.

A colourful beach house

Posted on Thu, 20 Mar 2014 by midcenturyjo

You know the sort of place. It’s a tiny enclave just outside a major city. Up along the coastline. There are only a limited number of houses and hardly anyone sells. Fisherman’s shacks and family beach homes, the occasional misplaced McMansion. Little diamonds in the rough waiting to be transformed. Interior designer Brett Mickan has taken a simple, unpretentious holiday home and created a colourful beach retreat. Fun and fresh and stylish without being too precious. Just right for summer fun.
