Urrutia Design

Posted on Tue, 18 Mar 2014 by KiM

I looooove this home in Mill Valley, California. It was recently renovated, extended and decorated by Urrutia Design (principals are Jason Urrutia and Martha Carvalho). The interior is lovely (fabulous dining room!) but the landscaping and particularly the backyard oasis is a DREAM! The outdoor shower is so freaking cool – matching the tile to the cedar shingles. Brilliant!!

Stalking a fireplace

Posted on Tue, 18 Mar 2014 by midcenturyjo

I always like to see what people have hidden at the back of their houses. Extensions and additions give me unexplained pleasure when I’m real estate stalking. particularly when a modern design is hiding behind a traditional facade. And if this extension just happens to be a glass sided box with a killer futuristic fireplace? Then it’s a winner in my book. Prahran, Melbourne house for sale here while the link lasts.

Annie Schlechter

New York photographer Annie Schlechter is my idol. I have been a fan of her work for years. I envy her stellar photography skills and her good fortune of having been up close and personal with some really beautiful interiors (like Eva Dayton‘s home in the first 2 photos).

A home in Little Venice – a second try

Posted on Mon, 17 Mar 2014 by KiM

Another post from last week where photos were not displaying correctly…

The folks over at DOS Architects have completed yet another stellar project in London. This one is located in the ‘hood of Little Venice. The glass atrium at the rear of the home housing the dining room is such a beautiful space. I would spend all of my time in there eating, working, having dinner parties and summer barbecues… And the icing on the cake – the large, stunning photograph above the credenza and the Tom Dixon Beat lights taking pride of place above the table. (More of DOS’ work here and here)
