Consort

Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015 by KiM

Mat Sanders (creative director for Domaine Home) and Brandon Quattrone are the talents behind interior design firm Consort. This duo certainly knows how to work it, creating spaces that for the most part exude a not-so-serious glam edginess that I adore. They had me at Serge Mouille and Paolo Rizzatto for Flos lights. 🙂

Yes that’s right. The jewellery is beautiful but so is the store. I’d move in if I could. Oh. Thought. Does that mean that I could drape myself in all the pieces after hours? Win win situation. Lulu Frost Studio and Store by Katie Martinez Design.

Courtyard House

Posted on Thu, 9 Apr 2015 by midcenturyjo

Reinterpreting the historical vernacular of Paddington, Sydney Aileen Sage Architects have turned their new build to focus inwards on a series of courtyard spaces and a rooftop garden. With sliding and folding walls of windows and doors the interior connects with the outdoors allowing flexibility of use. Private, intimate, family oriented, a secret garden, an oasis, a place to close the door and welcome the family with open arms.

Book storage under stairs

Posted on Wed, 8 Apr 2015 by KiM

I LOVE this! Book storage under stairs! The scheme makes the most of the split floor levels, as floors in the snug become walls, with flooring lining recessed walls, and steps become shelves extending around the walls, and becoming a bench seat by the existing fireplace on one side, and a desk on the other. The steps have been appropriated as a place for family members to sit, chat, read, write, draw, perform, and play, and the snug has become the centre of the home and of family life. The other day I spotted this photo…

Joanna Lavén

…and I had a freaking epiphany. I think I should get some black and white tile and redo the floor in my vestibule, foyer and into the kitchen! I am looking for any excuse to get rid of my horrid orange/yellow oak hardwood. In case you forget how gross it really is…

I just can’t deal with this anymore. I hate oak to begin with, and some moron decided to find the brightest orange stain on the market which looks even more horrifying when paired with red/mahogany woodwork. IDIOTS!!!! So imagine the whole area above covered in a beautiful checkerboard pattern (in marble ideally but realistically/financially not going to happen) and then WHY STOP THERE?! My black and white kitchen (through the open door at the back of this photo) now has amazing blue walls but gross and cheap ceramic tile…so I would carry it through there as well. I am SO all over this idea. Now to source my dream tile…. but in the meantime here are some inspirational photos of black/white checkered tile foyers.

The photo above is PERFECT – that blue is pretty close to my kitchen wall colour. !!!!!! Via Style Me Pretty
