Those doyens of dark, wizards of white, masters of all things French chic, Pierre Emmanuel Martin and Stéphane Garotin of Maison Hand have held us in thrall for many years. Kim and I love anything they create. The only niggle is whether we like their black décor more than their white décor. Perhaps we could settle on a little bit of both.

Fresh colours, patterns and textures add flair to these spaces created by another British designer Flora Soames. Casual chic with a great energy. I want to hang out and drink coffee in this kitchen, complete with fireplace. (Anyone else desperately in love with a fireplace in a kitchen?)  

When Marilyn Monroe meets creams/grey/taupe, luscious fabrics and some marble. This stunning 19th century terraced home in London was lovingly refurbished and restored (including historic lath, horsehair plaster walls and hand detailed plasterwork) by Duck & Shed. Elegance and sophistication with a complete monochrome colour scheme. 

I have died and gone to marble heaven. *SIGH*

How clever… and stylish! Sliding timber screens of solid and perforated slats open up spaces or conceal the kitchen from the living area in this small apartment by Sydney-based Koichi Takada Architects.
