A bachelor’s first home

Posted on Wed, 9 Dec 2015 by KiM

Perhaps I am still making up for Sunday’s all black apartment with this blinding white bungalow designed by Los Angeles based Alice Cheng of Shialice. Such a beautifully simple yet powerful statement in this home for a bachelor. His friends are envious no doubt! Light in the main spaces, and dark elsewhere, the combination of these two extremes provides drama. The mid-century elements add a little funk.

Attic apartment in Barcelona

Interior designer (and real estate developer) Katty Schiebeck has a signature style. White and neutrals, organic and natural, Scandinavian meets Spanish. This 80m2 attic apartment in Barcelona epitomises the Schiebeck spirit. Classic, minimal, modern luxury.

P.S. If you are not already you must really become addicted to her blog Somewhere I would like to live.

Moody inner city pad

With great art deco bones this modern renovation of an inner city Sydney pied-à-terre by Weir Phillips Architects creates a moody and masculine home. Modern sophistication meets gentleman’s club chic.

Pix Pintxos

Perhaps an all-black home is too much…..but for a bar it is a totally rad colour choice. This tapas bar in London was designed by Duck & Shed. Dark and moody and with accents of deep red it is slightly goth and totally HOT.

A penthouse in Kiev

Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2015 by KiM

I have never been a fan of condominiums/high-rise apartments. They remind me too much of an office building (where I have worked the past 15 years) and seem so non-homey. This Kiev, Ukraine loft penthouse however, would have me totally converted. This is one of the most considered homes I have ever seen. Every square inch seems to have been carefully thought out, beautifully designed and perfectly executed. I even appreciate the open concept closet. My almost all-black wardrobe would be quite a statement there. Designed by Olga Akulova

OMG. I am so in love with these Blu Dot copper chairs
