Blue and white beachside

Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016 by midcenturyjo

There’s something so fresh about a blue and white interior and I love this modern take on a classic look in this Newport Beach renovation by Jeff Trotter Design. From bobbin chairs to Burmese rain drum side tables, from beadboard to blue and white ikat cushions it’s the perfect coastal look for those who like their beachside classic not clichรฉ.

The diversity of Benjamin Vandiver

Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016 by KiM

Benjamin Vandiver says his aesthetic cannot be categorized as one specific expression, that it’s just all about exceptional taste. Ordinarily I would find that proclamation a tad obnoxious but after perusing his portfolio, it’s 100% accurate. There’s nothing obnoxious about these spaces; they are all refined, carefully curated and casually exquisite.

And from me: 2 of the favourite lounging spots in the house. Felix on the DIY console table under the living room window and Lucky on my Victorian embroidered chair. (Felix is doing well on meds to battle his recently diagnosed lymphoma, but now he’s verging on becoming diabetic so on top of taking meds we have wean him off one of the meds and give him high-protein food to help lower his glucose levels. Ah buddy. *sigh*)

Happy in Happy Valley

Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016 by midcenturyjo

A dark and dingy 3 bedroom apartment in Hong Kong’s Happy Valley has been completely reworked and revived by architectural firm Lim + Lu. The idea was to explore the multi-use of spaces through a series and glass and black steel sliding doors. Rooms could expand and contract, be open or intimate all dependent on how the owners wished to use the space. Colour and pattern not only add a vibrancy and freshness to the apartment but also help delineate core living spaces from the extensions.

French shabby chic in a British Victorian

Posted on Sun, 4 Dec 2016 by KiM

There is something so dreamy and magical about this home. it brings together French and shabby chic with a plethora of textures and patterns and aged patinas and sparkle and glamour. if I walked through the front door of this home I could wander around for hours running my hands over fabrics, admiring each nook and cranny and not wanting to miss a thing.
