A couple personal IG entries. This first one is my twin sister’s new puppy Benson. He’s totally adorable and matches their cat Lily. ๐
My hair stylist has a farm with many cats, including some kittens he was worried would not survive the winter. A co-worker of mine agreed to take one and Murphy is the sweetest, most affectionate cat I have ever met. Her goldendoodle Eva adores him.
attached is a photo of my toy poodle, pico, in the kitchen. he always lies in the chair when i prepare his food–the better to see everything.
– Jenny (Amsterdam)
This is our cat Pepsi on her favorite spot.
– Katharina (Nuremberg, Germany)
Her name is Diesel (because she is so black that the name fits her perfectly). We are from sunny Spain (even in winter hahahah) and she is standing on a very recognizable chair, my favourite at home.
– Carmen
with warm wishes for desire and inspire from cat Lisa)))
– Tatsiana (Minsk, Belarus)
– Edina (Hungary)
News flash! The World Design Rankings have been announced for 2016. Who do you think topped the list? Where did your country come? What are World Design Rankings? WDR ranks all the countries based on the number of designers that have been granted with the A’ Design Award. United States ranked as number 1 among the 88 represented countries, followed by Italy, England, Japan, Brazil, China, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong and Turkey which took the top positions this past year. So where did your country came? Check out the list below:
(As you can see Canada pipped Australia by 2 places. Come on Aussie designers time to pick up your game. Next year we have to beat those Canadians!)
The ultimate aim of the World Design Rankings is to contribute to global design culture through advocating and highlighting good design. The rankings provide a snapshot of the state-of-art and design potentials of countries worldwide by highlighting their creative strengths, design weaknesses and available opportunities. The “Design Business Insights” section provides a ranking of countries based on their success in diverse design fields and creative categories. Using the “Design Business Insights” section, media members and design lovers could discover leading countries for specific design sectors and get answers to their questions such as “Which country is best in industrial design”, “Which country is best in interior design?”, ย “Which country is the best in fashion design?” etc.
With the best of the best showcased in hundreds of design fields and categories the Design Classifications allow you to choose the top ranking designers, artists and architects for your next project be it in architecture, interior design, furniture design, fashion design, graphics design and packaging design and more.
This is the second year that Desire to Inspire has partnered with the A’ Design Award & Competition, the world’s largest annual juried design competition that honors the best designers, architects, and design oriented companies worldwide to provide them publicity, fame and recognition. Such an exciting competition. Such a prestigious award. Here are some of my favourite winners from previous years.

2017. I can’t believe it. The start of a new year on the blog and I’m excited to get going. My round up of room favourites for 2016 revealed a shift in my tastes. A shift towards a simplified way of living. A shift away from the gimmicky, the throw away, the quick fix. (I know I’ll be tempted though. I’m human after all.) It’s not about trends. It never should be. It’s about exploring your style but keeping it real. It’s about the beauty of being authentic. A lovely of cottage isn’t torn down or tarted up to be something it’s not. It’s respected and lived in. It’s about surrounding yourself with the pieces you have collected and cherished over time. It’s about your personality settling comfortably into the rooms you inhibit. It’s like this home in Southold on Long Island by Jennifer Vaughn Miller of Vaughn Miller Studio. Simply beautiful.
