โœ… Tree bought from a local nonprofit. โœ… Decorated with almost all thrifted vintage ornaments. (Shiny Brites forever!!!) โœ… Throw blanket strategically 'thrown' around the bottom as a tree skirt. โœ… Christmas records collected from flea markets spinning just out of shot. โœ… Small and snuggly dog. It might sound overstated or even trivial, but this photo is a mark of success for me. None of the things I just listed are overly expensive or even difficult to acquire, but this photo feels like a success story. โค๏ธ In years past, I couldn't afford a tree or didn't have the space for one. That's nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, last year I got creative and cut down a tree from my yard! (It had to come down anyway. And I planted one to replace it in a sunnier spot.) ๐Ÿ’ช But this year I saved money in advance. (I can't stress enough how important it is to save for not just presents, but also other holiday expenses. I never did that before and I was always feeling broke by January.) And I feel like I'm closer to matching my values with the holiday this year. ๐Ÿคž As a self-proclaimed minimalist, I struggle with such a consumerist holiday, but I'm finding ways to thrift, upcycle and simply do less this holiday season. And I feel more at peace than I had before. How do you match the holidays with your values? Can you tell that one of my models wasn't at all happy about posing for the camera? Mojo (on the left) has definitely perfected his grumpy old man face ๐Ÿ˜’Whoever it was that made up the saying about herding cats had clearly never met a cocker spaniel in their life ๐Ÿ˜‚ . . . #dtipetsonfurniture #dogsindecor #dogsinmyhouseandhome #cockersofinstagram #spoodlesofinstagram #dogsofinstagram #dogmodels #goodboys #outdoorlivingspace #outdoordecor #wickerfurniture #wickerwednesday #petsonfurniture #gardenroom #realinstahomes #realhomesofinstagram #instareality #homesquared #thiscreativehome #howimonochrome #nzhouseandgarden #yourhomeandgarden #houseandgarden #postitandsmile #styleithappy #cockerspanielclub #cockapoo #cockerspanielcuties

The art of being a cat #dtipetsonfurniture

Some from me (as featured on my instagram). Mimin checking out the dead hydrangea flowers my parents gave me from their garden. And Mimin on the cat stairs leading up to the catio/kitchen window. Bernie lounging on the stairs.

axie says:

Needed this, thanks! Also, I love reading the pet’s names- humans are so funny ๐Ÿ™‚

Carmen says:

You got rid of that spider chandelier? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

KiM says:

Yep! When you have an opportunity to get your hands on a Lambert & Fils one you have to go for it! And the new one doesn’t overcrowd the room like the other one did, apart from the fact that it’s gorgeous ๐Ÿ™‚
