“A former ballroom is the setting of this exquisitely designed two-bedroom apartment. It is situated on highly sought-after Courtfield Gardens in Kensington, with a private balcony terrace overlooking a verdant churchyard square, to which it has resident’s access … The design seizes on the dramatic scale offered by four-meter ceilings and huge south-facing French windows at the front aspect.”

Apologies for posting more amazing homes from The Modern House. I had no idea that Kim had posted one of their properties yesterday until after I had uploaded these fabulous pics but I don’t think you’ll mind. I mean look at this apartment! The soaring ceilings, the Crittall wall, that verdant balcony with views over a churchyard AND all in Kensington. Out of my price range but a girl can dream. I continue my quest to find the most beautiful restored homes which seem to all be in London, or somewhere in France. They almost bring me to tears I am so enamoured with the history and the patina and the craftsmanship. This one is entirely renovated and reconfigured in recent years, care of Mosley and Mann architects and I applaud them for not turning this into some blasphemous modern shell. Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Est Lighting showroom by Christopher Elliott.

Martha’s Vineyard farmhouse

A perfect summer retreat. On a bucolic parcel of land in Chilmark, Sullivan + Associates and White Arrow transformed the town’s original post office into a contemporary Farmhouse. Our clients love to cook and entertain, so we designed their kitchen with a beautiful blue Lacanche oven, butternut and marble work surfaces, Waterworks fixtures, custom cabinetry to conceal top-of-the-line appliances, and a nearby stocked pantry. The home’s interiors take inspiration in the nearby ocean and farmland, with indigo-dyed canvas, warm textural linen, natural fibers, and leather.

I am forever a supporter of dark accents to an otherwise neutral colour scheme. It’s the drama that every home requires.

Venice Beach Shack

Posted on Fri, 13 Nov 2020 by KiM

This home is small space living at its finest! Lovingly coined the “Venice Beach Shack”, this small house was originally a crumbling shack reimagined into a modern beach pad. These photos capture Phase 1 of construction that encompasses the interior reconfiguration and remodel of the kitchen, master bedroom, and bathroom in 550 SF. Phase 2 occured after additional permits to add 100 SF expansion connecting the house to the garage, along with the exterior upgrades and landscaping. This little minimal beach house is the ultimate in small space living. By Veneer Designs. Photos: Jessica Alexander
