Tristan Auer

Parisian designer Tristan Auer is a one to look out for – he was recently named by Architectural Digest as “One of ten best contemporary interior designers, stars of tomorrow” and has worked on projects with the likes of Christian Liaigre and Philippe Starck. Below are several photos of his residential work along with some photos from some hotels he has designed (which are located in Monaco, Cyprus, Caracas, Cannes, and Paris). While mostly modern, his designs are bold, yet I spotted some beautiful spaces in his portfolio that have a decidedly French touch.

While I attempt to not pass out from heat stroke in my house (my thermostat is reading 85°), please enjoy some wonderful photography from American born, award-winning George Seper (now located in Sydney, Australia).

Ina & Matt

Posted on Tue, 25 May 2010 by KiM

I had a very VERY busy long weekend filled with driving furniture across the city, painting, hanging shelves, organizing my clothes and helping cats #8 and #9 adapt to living at my house. I wasn’t sure I was going to have time to get a post ready for Tuesday but it’s so freaking hot here (34°C with the humidity and it’s 8:09 pm Monday night) that I need a short break. I found some interior design works of Netherland-based Studio Ina-Matt in a magazine recently (can’t remember which one – I bought a stack of them when I hung out with my sister at the hospital a few weeks ago when her husband had a brain tumour removed) and their website is under mostly construction so I don’t really have any background on them. Doesn’t really matter as these photos speak for themselves. Their kitchens are divine, ones that I have only seen in my dreams I’m telling ya. Rustic and totally gorgeous. Perfectly understated.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 24 May 2010 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)

Attached is a photo of my beautiful rescue cat, Nino Pazzo, sleeping in his favorite spot on my favorite vintage find, a Platner chair. He gets direct sun in that chair all morning and soaks up as much of it as he can. Check out his paw reaching for the last bit of sunlight. What a life!

This is my dog Lola, who believes she is human, and sits like a human. She is a very serious, 5 yr old puggle.

I’m Daisy, from Brazil. And this is Milá, my persian cat. In this picture her fur is short. She is on the bench made by myself.

Hi, I thought I’d send a pic of my kitties enjoying some quiet times in their favorite chair.  They often fight over the coveted spot, although here we have Mama, Little Bighead, and Noodles napping together peacefully. Naturally, I had to get a picture of the moment.

I have 5 dogs and 2 cats and trillions of pictures of them on furniture since they are allowed everywhere in the house yet I never thought about sending them until today. This is Michuca, very very sadly she is in hospital right now instead of in my lap because she is very sick at the moment. She is a 10yr old (we believe…)mixed breed cutie. I got her from the humane society 4 years ago and hopefully will be at my side for much much longer.Loves my bed, the couch and anything soft and comfy….if this makes it to the cut I’d like to ask people to send her positive thoughts since her tiny heart is having some trouble and she needs all the positivity and love she can get!

This is Sailor (white) and Mouse (grey). It seems as though they’ve put themselves in a time out for something I’m sure they did wrong.

Sweet Pea was an abandoned stray kitten found in downtown Boise, Idaho in an alley behind a bar.  She was sick and starved, but as you can see, she has fully recovered and is living the good life and loves to hang out in my favorite chair.  I love black and white in my cats and my furniture.

I’ve attached a double-whammy, of Twinky and PJ cuddled on a chair.
– Erin (Vancouver)

This is our 14 year-old Maine Coon/Persian mix, Yanni. He loves to sleep on our couch for hours on end.
