… waiting on house news

WINKS – weekend links. Here we list what has come in during the week, things we’ve found and things we think you’ll want to see. If you’d like to see your blog or website featured email us and if we think it fits with our readers we’ll link you. So what’s in this week?

  • Melbourne creative duo Nicholas Mesiano and Alistair Knight are launching their newest venture… a showroom full of exceptional, international, original vintage furniture, decorative art and objects in a hundred-year-old warehouse on Melbourne’s city fringe. All I can say is book me a ticket I’m on my way! More must haves on their website Nicholas and Alistair.

  • OMG! Talking about sexy… look at these modern steel and hand-blown glass room dividers & screens by Vital Steel NYC. Elegant, graceful and definitely a statement piece.

  • I’m dreaming of summer. Warm days spent poolside. Loving the stylish modern designs from Harbour Outdoor. Very cool!

Ramón Esteve Estudio de Arquitectura

The quest for harmony, serenity and timelessness, atmosphere, universality and context drives the creative processes of Spanish architect Ramón Esteve. Think modern, creative, innovative and dynamic. To me they are monumental works, at one with their cultural history and the land on which they sit while providing a defence against the harsh elements.  A fortress and a home. That’s one way of justifying a spectacular pool… it’s the moat!

FMD Architects

Fiona Dunin is the driving force behind Melbourne based design firm FMD Architects. Trained as both an architect and an interior designer her work focuses on materials and their use within her spaces. It’s a modern look that is not precious but honest and obvious. It’s not about hiding with layers but being out and proud in a way. There are clever storage solutions and light, always lots of light streaming in… perhaps not with the black bunkers 😉 but these stand in stark contrast to the Australian landscape. Simple, clean lines making maximum impact.

Kira Brandt

Let’s start the day (or end it if you are on this side of the world) with bright and cheerful loveliness snapped by Danish photographer Kira Brandt. Those bulbs just make me smile. Not too long now until winter ends in this part of the world and I’m gathering spring inspiration from Kira’s portfolio. These images tick all the boxes. Retro boho, real homes, gorgeous flowers, sunny yellows and blissful blues. The woman has a great eye!

Simplicity of design and honesty of materials. Inspiring in its minimalism. It’s all about turning constraints into opportunities, of recognising the limitations then going beyond them. Honesty, responsibility and creativity. Welcome to the portfolio of Barcelona based architects Emiliano López and Mónica Rivera.
