Kevin Dumais’ tiny apartment

Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015 by KiM

This was at one point Kevin Dumais‘ apartment. A Manhattan studio on the Upper East Side that is only 350 sq ft. It used to be painted butter yellow and baby blue, but Kevin had his way with it and spiffed it up into a proper gentleman’s quarters. This was several years ago mind you and I am hoping he has managed to move up. Because I frankly can’t imagine living in so little space for very long, especially since he was working from home. Black and white drama

A sad little cookie cutter apartment has received a dramatic makeover by Brisbane interior designer James Dawson. His Marine Parade Apartment design features bold black and white wallpaper, polished brass custom designed door handles and a bespoke “hidden” kitchen island bench (sexy legs!). Have you noticed the trend of “non-kitchen” kitchens lately especially in small open plan areas? Perhaps not the best for family living but this bijou apartment is all about drama and theatre and definitely more striking bachelor pad than kid friendly hangout. Crack open the champagne darling. It’s in the fridge somewhere behind those gorgeous black doors.

Pattern play in Poland

It’s fun. It’s young. It’s fresh. With a base formula of white walls, exposed brick and wooden floors Polish design firm Widawscy Studio Architektury have created a home full of colour and pattern. The living areas wrap around a central core that houses a powder room and the stairs that rise to the sleeping areas. Strong geometric pattern in wallpaper and tiles packs a design punch while coloured glass in the ensuite bathroom adds rich colour to the otherwise simple white master bedroom.

An apartment inspired by New York

What a fun apartment this is! It is a 2 bedroom show apartment that was designed by London interior design and architecture firm Honky. It is quite ‘New York’ themed but for a show apartment, I think it is perfectly suited to attract urban dwellers. White painted brick, lots of graphic elements and industrial touches all add to the modern look.

I don’t think you can get anymore “down under the Manhattan Bridge overpass” than this Dumbo warehouse apartment by Brooklyn-based Interior Design firm Sheep + Stone. Character, warmth, quirk and a view to the bridge from the large industrial style windows.
