A photographer’s apartment in Madrid

Posted on Sun, 29 Sep 2013 by KiM

I often get tired of homes that don’t look like anyone actually lives there (often the case of architects’ portfolios). Perhaps that is why this apartment took my breath away. It is the Chueca, Madrid apartment of British-born photographer Adrian Tyler. It is located in a building built in 1894 and maintains much of the original features, but includes some new touches such as 3 tons of tile from Morocco for the kitchen and bathroom. Throw in some mid-century furniture classics, Adrian’s photography and a sh*tload of books and you’ve got some pretty sweet digs. (Via Neuvo Estilo)

The Cross Design – Yaletown condo

Posted on Thu, 26 Sep 2013 by KiM

I have another girly pad for you by Vancouver’s The Cross Design. This one is a 1200 sq ft. condo located in the heart of Yaletown designed to be kid friendly. But it’s so white! I guess in this case bleach is your friend. LOL (It was featured in a Christmas issue of Canadian House & Home hence the slightly festive decor). It’s so freaking pretty, and I totally love the art and chandelier in the dining room.

A Parisian flat in Pacific Heights

Sutro Architects call it a Parisian Modern Flat… except it’s in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco. A chic Euro vibe with sun shining in through large windows onto white walls and herringbone floors. Good architectural bones and great new architectural design. I really don’t care where the flat is. I’m moving in. J’adore.

Sit and Read

I’d love to take the time to sit in the sunshine in this Williamsburg studio. Perhaps read. Or drink coffee and flick through records with a couple of friends. Chat and relax and bounce plans for the day’s activities back and forward. I think this would be my very cool friend’s home and I would spend way too much time there. The sit and read reference is apt in this case. The studio was designed by Brooklyn based creative agency Sit and Read.  Photography by Brian W. Ferry and no not that Brian Ferry.

Inblum

A blank canvas, an empty page to be written on with life’s experiences and daily detritus. A place on which to put one’s stamp. Pure and puritan. Asymmetrical and multidimensional. Open plan and yet connected. Modern living in the Old Town and New Town, Vilnius by Lithuanian design firm Inblum.
