This custom home was built along the shores of Mercer Island, WA and may have breathtaking views but the views inside are also pretty great 🙂 Katie LeClercq added vintage and modern elements in mostly neutral tones and lots of dark accents (I’m always a fan of that) that create a light-filled but cozy and cocooning vibe that really lets the spectacular scene beyond the windows be the focal point. Reimagining the traditional bungalow, this stunning urban house in Atwater, Los Angeles, seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living. Turning its back to the street the living spaces open onto a vibrant backyard. Lovingly planted with wildflowers, edible berries, and grasses by the homeowners the backyard evokes a profound sense of intimacy and connection. The main living area unites the living, dining and kitchen spaces in an open concept offering a delightful treehouse-like view over the backyard oasis. Modern Bungalow by Rios.

“The bathtub is a quiet moment of respite at the end of a long, emotional day. It’s a serene, soaking sanctuary and the epitome of self care. Warm bathwater with scented suds envelops every inch of one’s body in the most comforting hug. Between a set of European-style wooden shutters, a cool breeze whistles through the window allowing one’s thoughts to wander and providing a moment for meditative breath; to reflect on deep thoughts. The crackle of the candle beside the tub is a comfort in the silence while warm, ambient light allows for pen to be put to paper, perhaps spilling out unrequited emotions.“

Ahmad AbouZanat of design studio PROJECT AZ has created a bathroom that explores the beauty of simplicity and understated luxury. Rust-coloured tiles mirror the building’s exterior, contrasting with white tiles to create distinct yet unified areas.

London-based designer Isabella Worsley takes a fresh and characterful approach to design. Her use of colour and pattern, in both furniture and on the walls lends itself to a more youthful and vibrant approach to design with a British flair. This isn’t stuffy nor is it granny-approved, and it sure is family-friendly.
