An unusual house in Amsterdam

Posted on Fri, 20 Dec 2019 by midcenturyjo

Framework’s Canal house is characterised by an unexpected imperfection. That aesthetic runs through the entire house, with playful and creative spaces that provoke, making you look twice. With an outside truthful to its 19th-Century heritage and an inside that refuses to conform to traditional symmetry, the house sparks people to feel comfortable and -at the same time- to also look around and ask questions.”

Quirky luxury with a touch of wabi sabi in a historic Canal house in Amsterdam? Beauty that makes you think.

Moody modern meets Art Nouveau

Posted on Wed, 18 Dec 2019 by midcenturyjo

Imagine an Art Nouveau apartment in Stockholm. Now imagine a renovation with a moody colour palette, a mix of modern and mid century furniture pieces, soft light filtering in through large windows and a layering of natural textures. Actually you don’t have to. Swedish interior designer Joanna Lavén has done it for you. Welcome to the perfection that is Apartment O.

A pleasing marriage of contemporary and rustic elements embues this Ibiza house with an easy sophistication. The white colour palette is warmed by wooden accents while statement black adds drama to the bedroom. Relaxed country elegance by the design studio Aaprile

The edgy loft of a music lover

Posted on Thu, 5 Dec 2019 by KiM

This loft in Livorno, Italy is where art, music, plants and custom furniture come together to create an edgy, unique home. Also, I’m really digging how the hardwood floor was laid. Very cool! Designed by MODO architettura + design.

Urban luxury hidden down a gritty city lane. Venture beyond the gates and this edgy, masculine interior is all about high end spec and industrial meets art gallery meets downtown glamour riffs.   Dark stone is washed by bright light flooding through walls of glass yet all is secluded and private. I’m real estate strolling scrolling in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton. Link here while it lasts.
