Sean Anderson goes dark

Memphis interior designer Sean Anderson (from this past feature, and this one) has serious skills when it comes to creating white, neutral, naturally textured spaces, but it seems he can also nail dark spaces like nobody’s business. The secret ingredient in his case is keeping the floors bright and white. The sunlight bounces off of them and adds dimension, while evading the cave-like nature of having really dark walls. GORG!!!

Bright and serene, moody yet calm the interiors of this Bridgehampton family home by Timothy Godbold is so classic, so sophisticated and yet so casual and inclusive. A home of two halves? No it’s a resolution of the chic and the relaxed.

Malene Birger’s Italian villa

Danish fashion designer Malene Birger should have really started her career as an interior designer. Her 1905 Italian stone house on a hillside with views of Lake Como is decorated with the most incredible maximalist, eclectic style that is blowing my mind. Black, white, brown and the most glorious ochre/mustard/spicey yellow I have ever seen, and a divinely random mix of vintage finds from flea markets and auctions around the world.
