It’s like a shadow house, a phantom building. There but not there. Starkly minimalist this modern addition to a historic home is cartoon like in its form, its all black walls and roof helping it “disappear”. Housing a garage and additional living space it is connected to the existing stone building by a glass walkway allowing for a strong delineation between old and new. It’s bright and sassy, stylish and playful, family-friendly and pattern packed. It’s fun, it’s fresh and so very, very liveable. This once tired and dowdy 1930s house got its fabulous makeover from Nashville-based Pencil & Paper Development Co.

It’s simple house in a coastal hinterland by Nexus Designs. Simply stunning that is. I could definitely imagine this as my weekend bolt hole. Stylish and relaxed.

Love the cabinets and the pantry. Love the old fashioned look of the electric range and the new fangled fridge. Love the beams and the wide floor boards. I love the traditional feel and the modern convenience. It’s even in a thatched cottage. Swoon. My love affair with English country style kitchens continues. This lovely room is by Robert and Tamsin Allen of Fawn Interior Design Studio.
