A to-die-for home in Paris

Posted on Fri, 28 Oct 2016 by KiM

I mentioned in my last post that my favourite interiors are those that cannot be replicated, that are edgy and eclectic and have a retro vibe. Add in some bold, mostly dark wall colours and I am on cloud 9. If the space is in Paris with gorgeous original architectural details then you it can’t really be beat. Which is why I had to share this home in Paris I found on Elle Decoration Sweden. It has EVERYTHING. Photos: Gaelle le Boulicaut

double g

I have had an undying design crush on Parisian architecture and interior design firm double g for too many years now. Yes it helps if you start with a building with great bones but no-one fleshes out those bones better than this French duo. This 200sqm apartment in Saint-Georges is just sublime.

A designer’s home

I love to see how designers live, how they interpret their design manifesto in their personal spaces. Atlanta-based Jayme Armour has filled her small bungalow with colour, pattern and texture, layer upon layer creating a dramatic yet comfortable cocoon. Personality and playfulness aplenty with bold colours and a mix of high end and found. Yet with all this exuberance the rooms are balanced and considered.

A dark apartment

Posted on Mon, 6 Jun 2016 by KiM

Black kitchen cabinets, black dining chairs, black backsplash, black/blue bedroom walls and cupboard, black tile bathroom….this Potts Point, Sydney apartment designed by architect and interior designer Tom Ferguson (TFAD) is dark and fabulous and not at all dreary. This moody space is subtly glamorous and there is not a white wall in sight! And I am in love with the bathroom, and that Cole & Son Nuvole Fornasetti mural.

Black box

It’s like a stage, a theatre set for living. In the centre of this 75m2 apartment in the 6th Arrondissement of Paris sits a black box. Within lies the sleeping chamber of this edgy and moody home. Equally as interesting is the kitchen, laboratory like, waiting for its culinary chemist. Stylish French living by Agence Marie Deroudilhe.
