Modern farmhouse

Posted on Tue, 18 Feb 2020 by midcenturyjo

“A classic Long Island farmhouse that reflects how we live and entertain today, in which unique connections between spaces allow for a variety of interactions and connections.”

Situated in an old orchard this traditional gable roofed home has had new life breathed into it with a contemporary interpretation of farmhouse aesthetics by Elizabeth Roberts Architects. Fundamental to the new design are the sun room re-imagined with cement tiles, pine panelling and wood burning stove, the perfect spot for all year round living and a welcoming kitchen where family and friends can gather.

“Inspiration came in the form of an interest in cultures, colour and family. Meticulous briefing resulted with the design concept perfectly matched to the client’s affinity with Asian culture and their bright, positive personality.”

Fun, fresh and family friendly, a modern home with a historic footprint. I’m green with envy. Glen Iris House ll by Melbourne-based Sisällä Interior Design.

Garden rooms

Posted on Tue, 4 Feb 2020 by midcenturyjo

A seamless connection between inside and outside rooms defines the Los Angeles home of landscape architect Scott Shrader. And what rooms! Oh yes the interiors are lovely but it is the lush green garden rooms and the strict neutral palette for the outdoor furnishings that have me gasping. Every picture is a treasure trove of inspiration. Love!
