Rosewood House

Posted on Wed, 8 Jun 2022 by midcenturyjo

“The texturised timber screen of Rosewood House sits as the crown jewel amongst a bold composition of strong forms. Referencing the clients’ Japanese and Scandinavian heritage, timber was used as the principal design material. The family home is linked over three levels by a dramatic staircase. Light and views become part of the interior world by situating living areas on the upper floor.”

Nurturing, sculptural, sustainable. A modern family home that embraces the inhabitants with cocooning privacy while celebrating the impressive views beyond. Rosewood House by Madeleine Blanchfield Architects.

The prettiest Notting Hill apartment

Posted on Tue, 7 Jun 2022 by KiM

This Notting Hill apartment designed by Vanrenen GW Designs is a bit of a modern approach to classic English style with the prettiest shades of pink, blue, green and yellow. So many beautiful patterns too. I’ve taken to spending what little free time I have scouring Etsy for any patterned textiles. I’m obsessed 🙂

Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Elementa Stockholm by Studio Hilda.

Los Angeles interior designer Lauren Piscione of LP Creative created such a beautiful oasis for herself in this rental home in Silver Lake that sits up in a canopy of leaves. I adore the earthy calm of the space, the casualness, the faux concrete wall, all the vintage fabrics…. (Photos: Michael Clifford)

Quintessentially English … again

Posted on Wed, 25 May 2022 by midcenturyjo

The last time I featured interior designer Laura Stephens’ work it was a quintessential English townhouse. All wallpaper and chintz, overstuffed armchairs and family antiques, lamps with pleated shades on tables, entry hallways leading the eye to stairs with runners, country-style kitchens and roll-top baths. Now if we just add a Cotswold stone historic cottage in an area of outstanding beauty, what do you get? Why just about everyone’s vision of the perfect country bolthole. Welcome to Well Cottage in the Cotswolds.
