“To create beautifully unique spaces with a nod to historical details and high-end craftsmanship that will stand the test of time while simultaneously embracing the modern amenities and clean lines of design today.”
That’s the mission statement and here are the results. A new home designed and built from the ground up by Seattle-based Katie Hackworth and her team. It’s stylish modern living with an emphasis on balance and symmetry, layering textures, patterns, and palette.

What appears at first to be a sleek and refined if somewhat restrained West London Townhouse takes an about face and breaks out the colour and the fun. Art Deco riffs meet 80’s Memphis murmurings and by the time the terrazzo takes centre stage it’s all over. You’re in love. By London-based architectural and interior design firm Waldo Works.

At first I thought I was just having another kitchen crush moment going on but it’s so much more. Don’t get me wrong. I love the this white kitchen with its sleek contemporary lines and hidden surprises. There’s even a nod to traditional kitchens and don’t get me started on the floors. The Serge Mouille light and the Hans Wegner Wishbone chairs finish it off to perfection but the true hero of this space? The beautiful light flooding in through the wall of steel framed windows. What a luxury. It’s not just the kitchen though that has me squealing with delight. I know you’ll love the rest of this Prospect Heights Townhouse by Elizabeth Roberts Architecture & Design as much as I do.

The exterior gives you just a hint at what treasures the interior holds. The white walls and black arched windows suggest a restrained elegance, a sophistication but the myriad of topiary balls cascading on the front garden suggests a sense of humour. Through the front door is a home full of personality and pizzazz but what else would you expect from Betsy Burnham of Los Angeles based Burnham Design? One of my favourite designers has done it again!

Close your eyes. Imagine a refurbished 80s condominium. Now imagine classic mid century pieces. Add in traditional art works. Pop it all on a shiny shiny floor. Open your eyes. Voilà! Here it is. A fabulous Baltimore Loft by Annapolis, Maryland based Bohl Architects.
