A sophisticated townhouse in Markham, ON

These days I don’t often feature new build homes as those with history are more my thing but these photos of a model townhome in Markham, Ontario by Kylemore is quite spectacular. Their attention to detail (even in the photo above – check out the curves in the drywall above that stove wall) and the finishes and décor are spectacular. I’d happily move in there with a truck full of antiques and make this work.

You may have seen these photos before as this jaw-dropping, spectacular home in Darling Point of designer Tamsin Johnson (that she bought at the height of the pandemic!) made the rounds of magazines/blogs etc. but I thought it was a shame to not share something THIS GOOD here as well. It’s old and new, historic and modern, whimsical and elegant, and has a WOW factor that can’t be beat. I adore every inch of it. And this isn’t all. More to come later. (Photos: Anson Smart)

A place to cook, to sit, to eat, a place to gather … and a butler’s pantry just a step away. Cozy and inviting, warmed by its yellow and buttercream colour palette. I couldn’t leave today without sharing another wonderful kitchen diner by Côte de Folk.

The Kitchen at No.26

“I truly believe that our homes are a reflection of ourselves. A beautiful home is not just a frivolous desire to acquire nice things, it is about our engagement with the things that make us happy, calm and productive. For me, home is the space I am truly myself. It has to be many things to me, which means it has to be functional, but this doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful as well. In fact, I think surrounding yourself with beauty, whatever that means to you, is an act of self-care that can change your life.”

A designer’s own space is a beautiful source of inspiration and it’s no different with this cosy little kitchen diner by Sophie Rowell, founder of Côte de Folk. Perfectly imperfect, colourful and cozy it’s the quintessential Brit cottage with flair.

Embracing the architecture of this home and playing up the old world vibes, Nickey Kehoe once again adds colour and pattern and lots of cozy vintage vibes in this sun-filled home. Such wonderful light in each space.
