South Africa is on my travel bucket list, and this beautifully renovated 1950’s 7 bedroom guesthouse in Stellenbosch is accommodations I could definitively see myself really enjoying. Twice Central is owned by Ané Spies, Liesl Swart and Mandi Smit and they did a wonderful job making this a comfortable, casual and contemporary getaway.

I’m still reeling from the crowded chaos of my Christmas shopping. It’s time for another getaway to calm my jangled nerves and as for those of you facing the long, bleak hours of a hump day at work I’m guessing you’d like a virtual escape too. How about the soothing pastel prettiness of London’s Leman Locke Hotel by Grzywinski+Pons? I love the play of powder-puff pastels against the raw concrete and the modern minimalism. Meet you in the bar for a drink. Something pink perhaps?

It’s Wednesday, hump day, the working week half done but still the promise of the weekend is just out of reach. If we can’t escape our everyday humdrum then perhaps we can take a virtual getaway to a slice of South African heaven. From its luxury bedrooms and spa-like bathrooms, to its rooftop jacuzzi and an infinity pool overlooking the African bush, to the quirky hippo skeleton hanging above the dining table, the Leobo Private Reserve lodge hits every fantasy getaway note. It even has its own observatory. Via Luxe Houses.

I have warm, paradise-style locations on my mind as my winter holiday to Puerto Vallarta is booked and I am already sick of this dark, gloomy and cold weather. This island getaway in Ibiza has me dreaming about all the things I miss in winter and makes me want to cry it is so beautiful. Natural and earthy, rustic and raw, textured and tranquil. Designed and styled by Berlin-based Annabell Kutucu. (Photos: Steve Herud)

Still need a virtual holiday to get you through this long, long, long Wednesday? Time to escape to a traditional riad in Marrakesh, Morocco. I’ve lost myself in the tiles and that ceiling, the rugs and the plants. This one might just have to become a real holiday… Riad Jardin Secret.
