Down on the farm

Posted on Wed, 27 Mar 2013 by midcenturyjo

I know I have featured a video on Trelawney Farm by Urban Splash before (see it here) but I couldn’t resist sharing still shots of this gorgeous holiday house set on 25 acres in Mudgee, NSW. Vintage meets country meets super stylish and fun. A great getaway destination.

Casa Federica

Help! I am working 16 hours a day at the moment. Too many jobs. Too many exciting projects coming to fruition. I need a holiday. Even just a weekend break. But alas! Looks like it will have to be a “virtual” holiday instead. You’ll find me here in my dreams this weekend. Casa Federica in the rolling hills of Noto in Sicily. A minimalist box perched above the sparse landscape with views to the sea. Still and stylish. A perfect retreat.

6 months, 23 000+ photos, an unusual hotel and one of the world’s clearest skies. A magical timelapse. Let’s just say that the view at the Hotel Elqui Domos in Pisco Elqui, Chile goes on forever. It’s star gazing from the comfort of your hotel bed. A very special place captured in a very special way by photographer James Florio. You can see more at Hotel Elqui Domos and on James’ website.

A holiday in Bondi Beach

Posted on Fri, 1 Feb 2013 by KiM

Does anyone else out there need a warm, beachy vacation as much as I do? Luckily I am heading WAY south to Puerto Valllarta (my fav hot spot) in a few weeks and I am counting down the minutes until I leave this dreary, cold, grey hell that is winter. Perhaps you’d like to give Bondi Beach a go if you’re on that side of the world. The following photos are of 2 vacation homes in Bondi (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) that are designed by William Dangar of Robert Plumb. They are cool, modern but casually simple homes that would be ideal beach houses for a vacay. Details here.

Maison Rika

Climb the stairs above the boutique and gallery space to find the bijou guesthouse. Maison Rika is the creation of Ulrika Lundgren, fashion designer and founder of the Rika label. (In a previous life she was an interior designer – of course!) Classic, elegant, warm and with a twist of vintage, the two bedrooms are stylishly comfortable. A perfect base to explore Amsterdam’s “9 streets” area.
