Raspberry ripple

Posted on Fri, 25 Sep 2020 by midcenturyjo

“Circus-like frivolity is conveyed with elegant strength via eclectic patterns and motifs.”

Vivid. Graphic. Bold. A contemporary apartment with a raspberry ripple repeat. “Crane in the Sky”, a Walsh Bay, Sydney apartment packing a colour punch and a luxurious material palette in just 200 sq m by interior design studio YSG.

I came across this Stockholm apartment on sköna hem and did a double take for a couple of reasons. First, it was suspect that this was a Swedish home. Those lovely Swedes aren’t exactly known for their colourful homes. Second, it was so unique and over the top that I needed to review a second and third time to make sure I didn’t miss anything. A layered space is always a win in my book. I want to discover something new at each glance. If I can evaluate a room in its entirety in 3 seconds, I am bored. Kudos to designer Pontus Nilvander for holding my attention for well beyond 3 seconds. (Photos: Johan Carlsson)

A Spanish bungalow

One more from Intimate Living Interiors. One more because I love the calm, the sense of stylish oasis in their rooms. One more because who could resist the rustic meets chic of this renovated Spanish bungalow.

Interior designer Flora Soames added so much personality and family-friendliness to this stunner of a country home in Gloucestershire. It’s absolutely stunning with bits of period art and furnishings mixed with some bright colours and wallpaper and a gloriously large kitchen that I am head over heels in love with.

An eclectic black and white kitchen

Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2020 by midcenturyjo

The drama of black and white warmed by wood tones and the smallest touch of golden metals. Add in soapstone counters playing against subway tiles. Finally the hero of the room, those old carved timber doors on the pantry. It’s the recipe for a beautiful, eclectic kitchen by Toronto based Kelly Hopter Interiors.
