The Carriage House

Posted on Tue, 22 Jan 2019 by midcenturyjo

Bucolic bliss with just the slightest touch of boho in Bedford, NY by Virginia Tupker Interiors. Tupkert, who has worked for House & Garden, Vogue and Vogue Living has a passion for textiles which she uses deftly as a counterfoil to the rustic stone and old boards in this old carriage house. It’s rough yet refined, cosy yet chic. The perfect country getaway without the country kitsch.

Bohemian Modern

Posted on Wed, 16 Jan 2019 by midcenturyjo

My love affair with monochromatic interiors continues in 2019 and this modern, boho house by Indianapolis-based design firm and lifestyle boutique Haus Love Interiors is just what I crave. Right on trend with their tight colour palette of neutrals beefed up with texture and natural materials, the home epitomises easy living elegance.

A restored Regency villa in Notting Hill

Posted on Tue, 15 Jan 2019 by KiM

This house in Notting Hill, London was designed by Harding and Read and is absolutely beautiful, particularly the dreamy kitchen! This distinguished Regency villa had been split up awkwardly into three flats. The key challenge was to weave the spaces back together in such a way that honoured the original proportions of the property and make best use of clumsier extensions that had been added over time. The client wanted the property to feel that it had evolved organically and also needed it to perfectly fit their modern family life. We designed architectural detailing that worked seamlessly with the original features and sourced furniture, fabrics and artworks, new and old, that celebrated the personal stories of each family member.

Curatorial House

Posted on Mon, 14 Jan 2019 by midcenturyjo

A classic P&O style house has been carefully reconfigured and restored by Sydney-based interior designers Arent & Pyke, returning its Art Deco chic and providing a considered style to a house owned by a curator. Designer as curator, owner as curator? There could be a clash of temperaments but instead the house is a stylish homage to a glamorous era.

Kitchen Love

Posted on Fri, 11 Jan 2019 by midcenturyjo

My name is Jo and I have a serious kitchen addiction. You would think that being part way through my own kitchen renovation (think country colonial meets industrial) I would not have a wandering eye but I see a good looking rack of cupboards and I’m planning a little cheating on the side. My latest crush? This wooden kitchen by Swedish bespoke kitchen firm Nordiska Kök. Dark oak, terrazzo worktop, clean lined, Scandi chic. Swoon.
