Natasi Vail Design

Posted on Mon, 31 Mar 2014 by midcenturyjo

The soaring ceiling in this two bedroom duplex in a converted 19th century schoolhouse in Cobble Hill, New York lifts this otherwise small space to another level. Natasi Vail Design has exploited the height during their renovation of the space with clever built ins to maximise storage and provide architectural detail. Splashes of blue and pink play against white walls while a gallery hang of small art pieces accentuates the height. The original kitchen has a low ceiling height but by removing upper cabinets and replacing them with open shelves the space appears more open. An awkward apartment soars to new heights

Mediterranean minimalism

Simonsen and Czechura again. This time the renovation of a rustic house in Vence on the French Riviera. Open up a number of small rooms, let in the light and install a killer kitchen and bathroom. Modern Danish minimalism with Mediterranean panache.

You had me at Fritz Hansen Showroom Copenhagen but add in this stunning kitchen by Danish design firm and manufacturers Simonsen and Czechura and well who can resist? Industrial warehouse, high spec kitchen and 7 Arne Jacobsen Series 7 leather bar stools. Just when you think it can’t get any better wait for the long shot!

Love this kitchen!

I adore this kitchen – a collaboration between Croma Design and Style at Home magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Erin McLaughlin. Sleek yet warm, bright and inviting, with just the right amount of texture with that stunning backsplash. (Photos by Virginia MacDonald)

Gold is the new silver

I have been trying to convince my husband for months now that brass fixtures are HOT. So far I have been unsuccessful, even after showing him the following photos of interior designer Yanic Simard‘s newly renovated kitchen, which is GORG! The existing cabinets were resprayed with Benjamin Moore’s 2062-20 Gentleman’s Grey which has alot of blue undertones. It’s beautiful against the marble counter and backsplash. And to make this kitchen extra special, a faucet with a beautiful custom brass finish and existing cabinet pulls were electroplated to match. They even work with the stainless appliances. I’m sold!
