The client wanted a whole home refresh without doing a major remodel. The team at Heidi Caillier Design redesigned the house with new furnishings, wall coverings, carpet and paint. The mix of old and new, the play of pattern and colour, the layering of textures and materials all create a home that is comfortable and livable, beautiful and curated. I don’t know what I love more, the many discreet sitting areas or the richly layered bedrooms.

Have have many dear readers of the blog who have followed us for years and years. Shirley is one of them. I featured her B&B (Abadin in L’Orignal, about an hour drive east of Ottawa) back in 2012. Alot has happened since then as I learned in an email from Shirley the other day and it was so moving I had to share.
My story is here just in case you know somebody who wants to help themselves: Shirley’s Personal Health Story, Of fasting and healing – The tale of Shirley Lindemann’s recovery

Please forgive me. I have internet connection issues and I’m typing this with chubby iPhone fingers. For now let me just say I love the drama, the contrast and the modern luxury of this Melbourne house by Bayley Ward Architects with styling and furniture selection by Larritt-Evans. I promise to come back and write more when I have a keyboard bigger than a few square centimetres.

I’m stalking in Sydney’s inner suburb of Surry Hills, walking through its historic streets indulging my love of 19th century terrace houses. Behind this grey facade is a house with a flipped floor plan, living on the top, bedrooms on the bottom. It’s not the floor plan change that drew me in. It’s the bright, white interiors punctuated with tribal carpets and pillows, the artwork and a lovely, simple dining room. Link here while it lasts.

L.A. based interiors firm Alexander Design create spaces that are personal, luxurious and livable. Their work is a mix of contemporary, custom and vintage pieces, richly layered and carefully curated. It’s all about relaxed family living that is stylish yet functional, chic yet authentic, effortlessly elegant. A neutral colour palette is the jumping off point for this beachside home but it’s the layer upon layer of texture that is the star.
