Erik Gutter

Loving the portfolio of interior stylist and decorator from the Netherlands Erik Gutter. Kinda funky, not overdone, featuring classic Eames chairs, and there’s even a couple of cats. What more do you need?

Making a splash … an urban splash

Loving this extension and renovation by Sydney renovations and interior decorating firm Urban Splash. White, bright and playful this family home is creative and fun. A canvas of white walls allows quirky colour accents to shine through. Wallpapered stair risers? Yes please. I would have loved to have called one of the children’s rooms mine growing up and the bathrooms are simple but standout with their pattern tiles across floors and climbing up walls. It’s a stylish home, casual and practical with a definite wow factor.

Nixon Tulloch Fortey Norman Avenue

What is hiding behind the straight laced period facade? Not quite what you think. Melbourne based Nixon Tulloch Fortey Architecture has created an extension that pushes the possibilities of this historic home. Its open plan with bright colour flashes in the new while the renovation of the existing house provides contrast with its dark, rich palette.

Williamson Chong

Williamson Chong is the Toronto architecture and design office of Shane Williamson, Betsy Williamson, and Donald Chong. This trio brings on creativity, urbanism and sustainability. Below are a few of their projects, my favourite being the Galley House, built on a long, narrow ‘leftover lot of 12’ wide – which is the exact width of my house. But mine looks nothing like this one. 🙁 It’s amazing what these folks did with such an awkward space.
