Knock, knock. Helloooo! Open the door please. Please? I want to move in. The designer calls it “vintage vernacular”. The language is colourful, a little old fashioned but definitely with street cred. One day I’ll finally get the opportunity to meet/visit Jo in the subtropics of Australia, and she can explain and show me first hand what it’s like to live where indoors can meet outdoors year round. Sure, you could live that way here in Canada, but someone will eventually find you frozen in a pile of snow. In the meantime, I can dream about living in a very warm climate in a home with large moveable walls that expand your living space….such as these spectacular homes designed by KIRK Studio (who coincidentally has an office in Brisbane – where Jo is).

A fusion of modern with old world charm, light and shade, minimalism with maximum impact. This Melbourne based design firm creates a modern glamour with a clean line and a luxe but less vibe. That’s how I first described Mim Design‘s work back in 2009. Nothing much has changed. Except the body of work has exploded. Perhaps a little more layered, a little less minimal. Beautiful, clean lined modern interiors that surprise the senses and embrace modern living to the max.

Always. Always elegant and luxe. Always with an understanding of the space. Always textured. Always washed with colour. Always about the client. Always Australian, stylish and subtle. Always beautiful. Always Alwill. Always.

I feel like diving into these images. Hold my breath, dive through my computer screen and surface refreshed in rooms that hum with vibrancy and personality.
