Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Creative agency PLAYGROUND by Simone Haag.

Beach house minimalism

“Gracing the edge of Port Phillip Bay, this coastal haven exudes a sense of seclusion, comfort and relaxation. Simple forms and restrained materials nod to holiday homes of the past.”

Pared back and beautiful. Soft yet hard. Private yet open. It’s not your typical beach getaway. Sorrento Beach House by Pandolfini Architects.

Inside outside in

I love living in the subtropics. Here it is all about blurring the edges between indoors and out, expanding  living spaces when the weather is warm and inviting but being able to close up and hunker down if things turn inclement. This house in the Brisbane suburb of Bulimba by DAHA is the perfect example. The alterations and additions revolve around a central coutrtyard opening up the public spaces to the views and the breezes.

Ancient modern

A modern villa in Florida filled with antique materials and collected objects.  The villa is frequently used for large events and gatherings and our goal was to create an indoor-outdoor lifestyle with a refined yet relaxed aesthetic, a place where one would be equally as comfortable in a gown as barefoot. I love the natural colour palette, casual and somewhat tropical vibe. I’d love to do something like this in a hacienda in Mexico 🙂 Architect: John Lamb with all Interior Architecture by Lauren Liess & Co, Builder: Adam Baker

A serene kitchen

For a room that is the hub of the home I think more of chaos and mess, people coming and going, fridge doors open fridge doors close than a serene retreat but that is just what Tina Rich has created. I’ll put the kettle on and we’ll pull up a stool and take time out of our busy day.
