Scandinavian, modern, minimalist vibes are evident throughout this Haussmannian apartment in Paris that was completely renovated by Hélène Pinaud and Julien Schwartzmann of architecture firm Heju. They preserved as many original details as possible, and moved the kitchen such that it became the central gathering spot. The pink marble countertop is beautifully subtle and I adore the added curve in the island which is then mimicked in the cabinet hardware and light fixture.

Sean Anderson always makes my heart skip a beat. His ability to create such dynamic spaces with a neutral colour palette, lots of textures like linen and raw wood and mixing old and new furnishings is so impressive. The designer calls the project “Ebony and Ivory”. I call it a sophisticated, contemporary home with not only a play on black and white but texture and the clean lines of modern design. By Chicago-based interior design firm SKIN.

“Perfect blend of curated modern elegance and highly functional, timeless design”…. “The desire to create a level of sophistication that is never pretentious” …. “Poise and ease are achieved by balancing an artful sense of color and texture, highly bespoke custom furniture with impeccable attention to detail, and incorporating significant antiques and contemporary collectible design pieces that offer curiosity and a sense of wonder” …These are the design principles behind New York & Miami based designer Sandra Weingort.

“A former glass factory was transformed into single family homes … The project started from a bare construction. The idea was to design the entire interior in an industrial cosy natural way. The use of chalk, concrete, steel windows, marbles, oak floorings and linen curtains. To have an energy neutral building had never an effect on the interior but is a great plus. This project is a perfect example of an added value in a beautiful collaboration between client and interior architect.”
