Meta Interiors

Clean, contemporary lines with a base of neutrals strengthened with sophisticated colour choices. A simple, modern nursery layered with texture and pattern with surprising but not overpowering orange and pink colour accents. A room that is functional and stylish. Not at all twee. An apartment which plays with scale and texture softly embellished with pastel blues. Beautiful interiors by Chantal Spanicciati of Meta Interiors.

Meg Lonergan of LeSueur Interiors is an interior designer from Houston whose designs are classic, totally liveable and timeless. Meg’s eye for mixing the old with the new, the classic with inventive, fine antiques paired with flea market finds; are molded from her experiences living abroad in Singapore, New Zealand and Paris as well as her travels all over the world. Her intuitive southern flair and international sensitivity can be seen clearly in her interiors, forming eclectic and creatively fresh concepts. I loooove those Asian armoires in the photo above, and who knew black in a baby’s room could look so good?

A renovated fisherman’s cottage

I saw this article online at The Guardian (UK) and was instantly wowed. It’s a completely renovated Scottish fisherman’s cottage that is so old it was extended in 1809 to fit accommodations. After a major architectural makeover inside and out, and with the use of reclaimed materials and vintage furniture, it’s now a funky mix of old and new, rustic and modern. Read more about it here.

Week of stalking 4

If our first Melbourne house was a riot of family colour our second is a study in well curated neutrals. This Malvern home is a marriage of old and new, with warm caramels, offwhites and beiges lifted, or should that be grounded, by black. It has every Australian’s dream… no not the pool or outdoor kitchen but an open plan kitchen, dining and family living with access to al fresco dining. Open plan is a national obsession here in Oz. Week of stalking 1

Welcome to a week of real estate stalking. Yes I dropped down the rabbit hole of real estate listings and came up with all sorts of gems. Big and small, high end and  just within reach (if anything is within reach in Australia’s still inflated housing market). Let’s start with this 1940’s beach house in Avalon, Sydney. Apparently the original owner carried each sandstone block from a nearby quarry. Love the neutral, relaxed vibe. A nice change from the blue and white often associated with beachside living. And if you like the chunky wooden furniture then check out Mark Tuckey‘s website or pop into Mark Tuckey. home. in person at Avalon Beach. Link here while it lasts.
