Everyday elegance

Julie Dodson Webster of Houston-based Dodson Interiors blends Hollywood Glam with fresh French style, creating timeless and transitional spaces that pack a punch but are livable and functional. Like this home – neutral and cozy yet sophisticated and elegant. The architecture sure helps make this quite a beauty.

The interiors of this home express our clients’ sense of refinement, joy and restraint. The home is punctuated by idiosyncratic combinations of nuanced color, luminous finishes and earthy materials. The layering of an extensive architectural and decorative materials palette yields depth and interest to the rooms while imparting a common thread of honesty, artistry and nonchalant luxury.

“The main reference that nurtured the design of this gut renovation is the Aman Hotel in Kyoto, Japan for its calm atmosphere. The beauty of the landscape was calling for that inspiration. Corinne’s team opted for an earthy palette with blue, green and yellow tones combined with raw wood, textural clay and soothing stone. This blend of materials gave a true sense of flow and balance throughout the property.”

With its seamless connection between inside and out celebrating the view and the surroundings and its natural yet luxurious materials palette this Santa Barbara home by Corinne Mathern Studio is a peaceful yet stylish oasis, a retreat from the everyday hustle and bustle.

Mediterranean luxury

“The three-storey Mariposa apartment is set in an iconic, brutalist listed building. The architectural challenge of this major renovation project was to combine five different apartments into one 500 sqm harmonious space … A reduced palette of five materials (Périgord stone, oak, bronze, travertine, and walnut) is used throughout to define the spaces and create a feeling of continuity. Inspired by the brutalist architecture of the exteriors, the apartment seems to have been carved in stone and creates a living space reminiscent of an alcove, which is both authentic and sophisticated.”

Living in the shop

Carefully curated and utterly covetable. When the actual retail space is in a house and everything is for sale it’s not easy to leave. This Sag Harbour pop-up by The 1818 Collective was all about connecting with the community in a deeper way than a traditional bricks and mortar store.
