This sprawling home with the most epic views is located in Glen Ellen, California and is another project by those talented Hommeboys. Indoor/outdoor living is essential with a location like this, and the organic materials used throughout really do help bring nature indoors. Absolutely stunning.
“SWDS was enlisted to create the interiors and exterior living spaces of this brilliant Taalman Koch Architecture project. The steel, glass and concrete home, sits on the side of the mountain overlooking Santa Barbara and the ocean. The clients love to entertain family and friends, and were committed to the ideal of true indoor outdoor living. They also, wanted a warm and rustic feel, rather than the typical austere choices that are typically made with this type of architecture.”
Simply elegant living with a mid century modern vibe. West Mountain by Sarah Walker Design Studio.
After featuring this project last week by Di Biase Filkoff Architects and being in awe of the beauty of their work I thought I would show a smattering of spaces from some of their other projects. I am particularly fond of the Swedish manor in the first few photos.
“Everyone I work with knows how important and instrumental are the architecture and art of Italy to how I approach a landscape: form and functionality, human-centric, everything looking ‘just so’. Introducing harmonies of colour, harmony of architecture, there is instruction and inspiration wherever you look. These combinations often inform our work as a landscape and garden architecture and design practice, creating spaces all over the world that truly sit happily in their space, looking as if they absolutely should be there. I never want to ‘impose’ a garden upon a place – it has to deserve its creation or restoration.”
Inviting and magical outdoor spaces designed by London-based Jo Thompson.
Dismantling a 1754 cow barn and transforming the timbers into a magnificent great room. The house was oriented to capture the view of the ancient crab apple tree, sensitively sited to work with the barn and tucked into a natural curve of the landscape.
What is frankly my dream home, located in Ancram, New York. That weathered wood façade is everything. The more rustic the better. Designed by Di Biase Filkoff Architects.
