Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 4 Nov 2013 by KiM

If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused then it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet! Thanks!

This was the first piece of furniture I acquired. Buddy (the brown dog) immediately claimed it as his. My second dog, who is not featured in this picture, decided we needed to redecorate and kindly removed the fabric from the upper cushion while we were out one day. So, I did some rudimentary recovering. Now our new foster dog, Simon, has decided that he fits too 🙂 Its still my favorite chair in the house!
p.s. Simon has difficulty getting around due to bum knees. We are trying to raise money to repair both his knees and help him find his “forever home”.  https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/szb3/surgery-for-simon

I’m sending you photo of our cat Mana. She’s enjoying classic 30’s armchair we inherited from great-grandma.
– Klara, Czech republic

Dog on chair: This is Miette when she is tuckered out.
Dog on rug: Miette is thankful for the new Ikea rug.
– Michèle (Minneapolis)

Our latest stray love. He never knew how to jump up on furniture but with a little help from our other cats he seems to get the hang of it. Poor baby. What a little prince.
– Deon

The Bean and Sugar catching some rays
Sandra (Los Cabos, Mexico)

She’s Valentinnah a Whippet 11months!
– Karime (Brasil)

Attached please find a photo of our grey linen couch with Riley, our shop dog!
– Cole

This doesn’t qualify for Monday’s PoF, because A) No furniture and B) Not my pets, but had to send this for your enjoyment anyway. Best as I can trace it, the photo was once posted on orvis.com in a customer submissions contest (Orvis sells clothes for the outdoors and pet beds.) It’s my favorite photo ever.

Polly runs this house.
Erin (Royal Oak MI)

That is Ozzie chillin’ on the bed. He is always up for stealing the scene.
Maggie (Heilsbronn, Germany)

Here is a photo of my dog Uni, 6 years old miniature poodle, and Noli, 2 years old American Short Hair on our IKEA sofa napping together on a lazy Sunday afternoon while my son, 9 months old Miles is trying to wake them. Noli is my mother in law’s cat who was rescued from a kill shelter. She vacations with us while my mother in law is traveling. We put out toys and cat beds for her to make her feel like home, but she seems to be fond of the Geometric D cushion by Vitra only! She had eyes on it the first moment she came in and calls it her own during her 10 days stay.
– Annie (Taipei City, Taiwan ROC)

This is our 4 month old French bulldog Teal sitting on her favorite chair..she likes to look out the window and growl at the squirrels for stealing her acorns.
– Gina (Martha’s Vineyard, MA)

This is my icelandic sheepdog Skima. I sent you a picture of her on my mums beautiful red and white striped Ekerö sofa a few months back. I have since then moved into my first own flat and here Skima is in her new favourite place – on a golden sofa I got from my godmothers childhood home. This baby survived 50 years, is surprisingly comfortable and has the original fabric. I love it to death! (and to the right you can see one of the matching chairs I got with it).
– Stella (Stockholm)

this photo is of my two cats, Mei (black and white) and Misso (red cat) on the cream couch. They love to scratch their nails on it ):
– Marcia (Marília, São Paulo, Brasil)

If you’d like to check out a couple of photos of one member of my herd that I took Saturday, check out this post on my page. And a big thanks to Helen for sending me this link. Prepare to laugh out loud.

Piper has claimed this chair as her own!
– Amy (Haddonfield,NJ)

This is one of my girl Lola sitting on my vintage bench/coffee table. She’s usually in my lap along with her sisters.
– Aracely (Philadelphia)

This is Mr. Banks. He is usually the centerpiece of my glass table but in the Fall he has to share with the little pumpkin.
– Tatiana

Our 4-year old pigeon-toed rescue, Geiger, loves to interfere with our mini photo-shoots and fully ‘inspect’ our new creations. Our home-based business makes rustic furniture like this maple syrup-colored salvaged red pine cupboard, which is pictured here, ready for delivery. He
‘looks’ innocent but completely dominates our poor 80 lb dog as well as everyone else who lives here -as most cats do!

This photo is of our lounge room with sweet LuLu the rescue pup on the sofa. 🙂 Just noticed that our other rescue pup, Max is on the sofa too. Can you find him?
– Anita (Boynton Beach, FL)

The attached photo is of my two French Bulldogs, Olive and Truffle, on the newly acquired vintage couch. They have 3 dog beds in the living room, but insist on the couch 🙂
– Sandi (Alexandria, VA)

This is our two year old border collie, Jersey. He recently discovered that a cowhide rug provides the perfect camouflage. We are constantly in danger of stepping on him!
Jessica (Michigan)

Ben (my king Charles cavalier) is a San Francisco native who enjoys long walks in golden gate park, collecting pine cones, and cheese!
– Lyuba

Libby is a Portuguese Water Dog and loves to nap as much as she loves the water. She’s 6 months old.
– Donna

2005 was not a good year for me and my then husband. We lost 5 pets including our beloved Sheltie Kirby and our resident goofcat Dink. The day after we lost Kirby we went to the Humane Society. There we met the furry fire-ball then known as Mikey.  As we were leaving, the staff wished us “good luck”! Seems the lil guy had knocked an entire computer off the desk! On the ride home Ex and I decided on the name Jenks after a character in a book we were reading.
The first picture I’ve included is from this very first day.  Jenks was a bit of a live wire and this was him rising to the top literally and figuratively in dominance in the apartment.
Years have passed, I’m now divorced and Jenks is about 7 years old. No longer a kitten, not so lightning fast and dealing with Type 2 Diabetes. He spends his days sleeping and eating like any respectable older gentleman. Occasionally playing and sometimes crying out cus he wants to be held. I call him the Little Prince or my Lil Man. He’s been with me thru a lot and the partment and everything in it is his to use as he pleases. Oddly, he rarely lays on the furniture and never on my bed. The second picture is incredibly rare and that why I wanted to share it.

Last Monday evening my husband and I said goodbye to our sweet Bubba Cheeks. We knew it was the right thing to do but damn was it ever hard to see him take his last breath while curled up in my husband’s arms. You can read the sad story of how he came into our lives here. He was about 20 years old, and spent the last 11 or so in our home. It is really strange not having him around, but so much calmer and peaceful now that we have a house full of healthy cats. We’ll miss Cheeks a ton (and Edgar who passed 2 months ago) but he left this world the opposite of how he came into it – happy and loved like crazy. Here are a few more photos of him – the first is from the summer of ’05, the other 2 from the last couple of months. RIP Cheeks.
