Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 18 Aug 2014 by KiM

If you would like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

Here’s my 4.5 year old rescue, Leroy. He’s 100% purebred littlewhitedog. We have a pair of these chairs and recycled kilim pillows. He has claimed them all, along with every sunny spot in our condo in San Francisco.
– Jill

I’m sending you a couple of better pics of our showroom Charles and Ray Eames lounge chair with our cute brown Galgo Espanol Ada and our Black Grayhound Twiggy.
– Izak (Ljubljana, Slovenia)

This is my cat Henry, lounging on an Eames knockoff that I found on Craigslist several years ago. It’s his favorite place to hangout and look handsome.
– Erin (Alexandria, VA)

Attached is a photo of Orson on my Eugene chair from Room and board.

Cat – Amélie
Owner- Vania
Photo – Alice

My name is MarieClaude and I am an artist, landscape designer and animal lover from Montreal. I have always wanted to send you pictures of our rescued cats from the garden. Some were attacked by a mother racoon, others were found almost frozen in the garden one winter night, etc. But all in all, their stories did not end there because we could not leave them outside to suffer. The lives of the ones that we rescued all have an happy ending…inside somewhere on a piece of furniture of their choice!!!
1 – Buxus on the chair and his sister Fougère on the Saarinen tulip table in the breakfast room (both rescued after a mother racoon attacked them one summer night in 2012). I bought the chair from a Quebec contemporary furniture maker ‘Interversion’ when I was a student in 1991, the table was our Christmas gift to ourselves last year and the iron shelving, we picked up on the side walk…
2 – Shadow resting comfortably on my grand-mother’s quilt on our Ikea sofa, cushions by myself! I know that it is a close up but I could not resist since Shadow was rescued last winter almost 1 1/2 year after her ‘babies’ Buxus and Fougère but not before losing both her ears!!!
Images 3 and 4 are of the same chair but with different cats. The chair was left in the garbage by the previous owners when we bought our house in 2001. It is by far the most sought after chair in the house!
3 – Willie RIP, rescued at 2 years old when her previous owner did not want her anymore because she was sick…with regular visits to the vet, I am happy to say that she lived to be almost 17 years old.
4 – Chatouille, one of three, on the same chair…she also likes to sleep deep inside a woven basket that was meant to be a flower pot holder but was recycled into a cat bed, her choice!

– MarieClaude (Montreal)

here are my cats: schizzo and cleo.
– Annalisa (pisa (Tuscany) – italy)

Meet Chilli, who came into our office today and couldn’t resist snuggling up to an Aura cushion and throw.
Jaine

I have a blog and your posts are a big inspiration for me. 🙂 So, in my last post, about the decoration of my home, I’ve put some photos of my pets.
Anna (Brasil)

Biela, our 8 month-old cat, seated in her favorite chair: Bertoia.
– Carolina (Sao Paulo, Brasil)

Inca is a one year old German Shepherd from San Antonio, TX. She likes to sit on the table when the floor is wet.
– Eduardo

Mr Biggles on the end of a curvy sofa which I had covered in cat proof fabric that I call teddy-bear.  Bought this sofa in 2007 in LA.  Still looks new here in Washington State, USA.
– Anna

Milo on the cat hammock table. Since we have moved this table to the new house Lucky, who ADORED that hammock, has yet to lie in it once. I think we might scrap the table (I was going to paint it). Milo is sitting there sunning himself instead.

Meet Scooter, an adorable west highland white terrier with notions of grandeur. He prefers to perch himself on a chair when overseeing his kingdom.
Maggy (Dublin, Ireland)

Happy on the new couch
– Anna (Hungary)

My pug’s name is Dr. Tobias Fünke (named after the character from Arrested Development) but I call him Fünke and we are from México City. The furniture he is in, is a old trunk I bought in a antique sale, I painted it, and added the wooden legs.
– Luisa

George (L)& Emmy(R) atop my Pier1 sofa. Both are rescues, George comes from Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue in Ohio.
– Maria (Cincinnati, Ohio)

Here is Lewis, a friend’s 17 year old poodle, relaxing on the patio furniture in St. John’s NL on Canada Day in fine style.
– Karen

1 – This is Sparky, my rescued Boston Terrier resting and relaxing on my new couch. I’m so happy that he approves of it. 🙂
2 – This is Sparky, my rescued Boston Terrier, resting on my olive green oversized couch in the living room where he loves to look out the window. 🙂
– Kelli (Elmhurst, IL)

I work at 2MZ, a design studio in London, and am a regular devourer of your blog. We’ve just launched our new web site and it features my rescue terrier-cross Stanley posing amongst some of our chairs….not quite ‘on’, but I thought you might make an exception.
– Leila

Some of you who have been around the blog a while may remember Desi, the cat I rescued about 2.5 years ago when my next door neighbour passed away within about a month of discovering he had cancer, and his family had taken all of his cats but one to the Humane Society (where I can only assume they were euthanized). Desi had escaped and Wanda from Hamilton, ON took her in. Wanda sent me some photos and I had to share. This was such a happy ending and she’s doing so well in her new home (and she’s chubby and so healthy looking!!). 🙂

And I thought I would share a couple of photos from the weekend in case you missed them on Instagram. I have pretty much unpacked and organized everything in the new house with the exception of knick knacks which I will get to eventually. My herd of cats took right away to their new home and have settled quite nicely, as you can see…

Just wanted to send you some pix of my darlings in my newly designed apartment in Los Angeles.
Julie

This is Ruby, she is 4 months old. After a month of perseverance we finally got her off the couch and onto her own chair, which was my Great Nanna’s, so you can only imagine how soft it is and full of interesting scents.
– Natashia (Perth, Australia)

Here’s a double whammy courtesy of Ms Pickles. She’s in her new favorite spot on my Remington chair, lounging on my Margo Selby pillow.
– Evelyn (NY)

This is Zézinho, a one-year old “Royal Street Cat” in a unusual and quiet saturday morning on our office chair.
– Teresa (Lisbon, Portugal)

This is Gypsy on my World Market sofa. I replaced the back cushions with three euro pillows (perfect fit!) for more pattern and comfort. Gypsy loves pillows almost as much as I love thrifting for them.
– Robin (Alameda CA)

This is my main squeeze Denzel who we got from an animal shelter in Glebe. Only 10 months old, he has a keen eye for furniture and loves my Eames DSW more than any chair in the house
– Evelyn

First time fostering for the local shelter, was given Chickpea (mother cat) and her seven unnamed kittens. They are getting over the flu. The first photo is day one of fostering when they found a comfortable chair, the second photo is moments later.
– Peta (Perth, Australia)

Although you can’t see the furniture (and I totally understand if you don’t post them), I thought you might get a kick out of these…

This is our cat Nico snoozing in the late May afternoon sun on our vintage Solair Chair.
– Jacquie (Vancouver, Canada)

This is Coco, a one-year old blue lynx Ragdoll. The sweetest, fluffiest Ragdoll I’ve ever known. She loves sleeping in bags, but when there isn’t one handy a bit of midcentury furniture will do nicely.
– Maggie (Toronto, Ontario)

These are my kitties on all sorts of furniture. Pony (solid white cat) and Rocket Long (her brother) 🙂
– Jordan (Nashville, TN)

A random assortment of Skillet, Sydney & Moco cats.
Pam (Orlando, Florida)

Pets on furniture
– Carla

My beautiful 20-year-old calico/tortie, Pita, maintaining her ever vigilant watch in one of her favorite vantage points, the back of the sofa.  A needlepoint likeness of my Brittany spaniel, Tilly, keeps her company.– Martha (Englewood, CO)

The dog in chair is Lilly, very old dog on floor Sadie, & cat Jean Louise (J Lo)….plus teenage daughter Alicia!
– Susan

Whippet Hunter 9mo & Manchester Terriers Bling and Jimmy Choo watching late night Saturday TV!
– Dina in Dallas TX

1. Our cat Arwen snuck into the bathroom to sleep somewhere warm (I used a pellet for towel storage)
2. Our latest addition Lulu (though now, 18months old) on my favourite new at the time floor cushions – one has become hers!
3. My amazingly gorgeous Bulldog Ellie-mae who is sadly no longer with us, she was an ancient (for a bulldog) 13 years old when she went to doggy heaven, next to her is Lulu who has taken on the job of consoling best mate amazingly 🙂

– Katie (Yarra Valley, VIC, Australia)

That’s a photo from 2006, on my sister’s wedding day, when our cat Turbo felt she needed more attention from everyone! So she made herself at home inside the basket with the wedding’s decorations! (That’s actually small bags of veiling filled with candies and they are given to the guests after a wedding.) She got really annoyed when we woke her up, she looks quite sleepy on the photo, doesn’t she?? Since this beloved cat died in 2010 at the age of 20 years old, I wanted to share it with you!
– Despina (Corfu, Greece)
