Stalking

Posted on Fri, 30 Sep 2016 by midcenturyjo

Don’t judge a book by its cover. That’s the lesson to learn from today’s stalking. Outside all Victorian-era historical loveliness, inside award-winning contemporary design. Fresh and innovative with a neutral colour palette and a definite scandi feel. A lot of you will recognise this house but do what the video as it highlights the space beautifully. You can find out more at the listing here while it lasts.

When stalking makes you jealous

By now you’ll know that I have a thing for old houses. Give me a home with a little history and character over a modern build any day. It seems obvious that I would like this little cottage in Sydney’s inner east and yes it does tick the boxes for me but… I’m having trouble concentating on the house at all. I’ve been bewitched by the art collection. OMG! What I wouldn’t do to get my grubby, greedy mits on those glorious canvases. The house could be a hovel and I’d still want to move in. Can I buy the collection instead of the house do you think? Link here while it lasts.

Stalking the Yellow House

Posted on Mon, 19 Sep 2016 by midcenturyjo

I’m stalking the redevelopment of Sydney’s historic Yellow House, part art gallery, part artists’ collective and home to the city’s bohemians… at least it was until the mighty dollar saw the building morphing into modern (read expensive) apartment living. Still this one bedroom abode is no bland wall flower, celebrating its colourful past with Zaha Hadid wallpaper, Kreon light fittings and kaleidoscopic bathroom. Link here while it lasts.

Stalking a magazine editor’s house

Oooh now it feels creepy. My real estate stalking takes me, in most part, to strangers’ homes and, yes, in this case the owner is still a stranger but it feels like I know him. I’m stalking the Surry Hills house of Vogue Living’s (and late of Belle magazine) editor-in-chief Neale Whitaker. At first I didn’t realise but the two weimaraners were a give away as was the Gillie and Marc portrait. It’s a stylish, light-filled two bedroom terrace house full of books and wonderful artwork. Almost worth a trip to Sydney to attend an open house. No I couldn’t be that creepy. For auction here through BresicWhitney.

Stalking a loggia

I’m stalking a 1920’s Hollywood-style Spanish Mission residence in Melbourne’s exclusive suburb of South Yarra. Although there are a few things I would change here and there I am smitten by the loggia, the art, those ceilings and the grounds. Do watch the video. It makes the house look so much better. Link here while it lasts.
