Revisting Generation

Posted on Wed, 31 Aug 2016 by KiM

It has been a while since I featured the work of Generation from South Africa. Not only do they carry some pretty spectacular furniture, but their spaces are polished, inviting and hard to spot any overdone trends here! As a side note I just took a look at their sofa range and WOW. I typically find sofas boring but these really do it for me. (And this isn’t a sponsored post for the record)

Boho Modern

Posted on Mon, 29 Aug 2016 by midcenturyjo

I’ve seen Boho Scandi and Boho Shabby Chic. I’ve even seen Boho Gothic and a touch of Boho stirred through Hollywood Regency but it’s rare to see Boho Modern. Glass and chrome, sleek kitchen, wishbone chairs and modern art married with a riotous Roche Bobois Mah Jong sofa, oriental wallpaper and lacquer cabinets. A modern loft style apartment with a strong personality. And then there are the views. A Private Residence in Covent Garden, London by Caroline Cobbold Design.

A renovated home in Spain

Posted on Fri, 26 Aug 2016 by KiM

What were once 3 “huts” is now this stunning, modernized home in Santa Catalina, Spain. It sounds like Christine Leja and her team at Bconnected worked some magic with this project – I would have loved to see some before photos. Cement floors done in an old traditional way, iron staircase and windows done by an artistic blacksmith, “Tadelakt” walls handmade by experienced artisans, landscaping by special designers, inbuilt furniture handcrafted by carpenters, an exceptional finishing by our fantastic builder – and last and not least, thanks to Charlotte, the owner, with her great taste for interior design.

A serene exuberance

Posted on Thu, 25 Aug 2016 by midcenturyjo

There is an exuberance, a riot of colour, pattern and texture that defines Los Angeles based interior designer Betsy Burnham’s work. In this house though, dark wood and black framed steel and glass windows and doors anchor an uncharacteristic neutral palette. Colour is expressed subtly in public areas while in the private bedroom and bathroom areas it makes a playful return. An eclectic style is perhaps best described as Rajasthan meets Myanmar meets Moroccan and Spanish Mission. An exotic yet elegant and serene house. Mt. Olympus by Burnham Design.

A beach house in Southampton

Polar opposites of the previous home, this beach house is ultra-modern where the other was traditional. Somewhat OTT in its sheer expanse of space, I appreciate that the interior has earthy, natural elements to remind you of the location, with gorgeous views of the Atlantic ocean.
