Stalking a dream garden room

Posted on Tue, 23 Oct 2018 by midcenturyjo

Sometimes it takes just one room, a single perfect space that captures your heart and soul completely. This lovely heritage home in Sydney’s prestigious Darling Point is beautiful. The windows are stunning, the kitchen is amazing but it is the garden room, or at least what I call the garden room, that will haunt my design dreams for months to come. Lead-light and parlour palms, rattan seats and french oak tables. Perfection. This is one of the times I wish I was actually touring the house not just real estate stalking. Link for the listing here while it lasts.

A historic Montecito estate

Alexandra and Michael Misczynski of Atelier AM take elegance and glamour to a whole other level. Every time I come across one of their projects my heart melts. This one may be my favourite. I can’t even get beyond the first photo of the dining room.

For more check out this Manhattan apartment, this Santa Fe villa and this L.A. home.

Classical bathing beauty

Posted on Wed, 3 Oct 2018 by midcenturyjo

It appears I’m spending my Wednesday daydreaming of beautiful spaces and as I’m in the middle of a bathroom renovation it seems appropriate that my imagination has strayed to this swoon worthy bathroom by Luis Puerta. Light-filled and lovely.

Gloucestershire Country House

Posted on Wed, 3 Oct 2018 by midcenturyjo

21st century living in an 18th century house. Now that is my kind of luxury. I’m daydreaming about this Georgian-era stone house in the Cotswolds especially the new green oak and glass dining conservatory next to the bespoke kitchen. It’s a marriage of new and old, carefully considered and beautifully curated by interior designer, furniture designer and antiques dealer Charlotte Hughes of Sutton House Interiors. Time for an escape to the country I do believe.

The softest shade of green

There’s something about that green. Cool, calming, refreshing like a dip in the ocean or a drop in the temperature on a hot, hot day.  Add the gold accents, the hint of lucite and pattern repeat of lattice and I find myself scheming a way to include a small garden room in my own home.
