A restored Regency villa in Notting Hill

Posted on Tue, 15 Jan 2019 by KiM

This house in Notting Hill, London was designed by Harding and Read and is absolutely beautiful, particularly the dreamy kitchen! This distinguished Regency villa had been split up awkwardly into three flats. The key challenge was to weave the spaces back together in such a way that honoured the original proportions of the property and make best use of clumsier extensions that had been added over time. The client wanted the property to feel that it had evolved organically and also needed it to perfectly fit their modern family life. We designed architectural detailing that worked seamlessly with the original features and sourced furniture, fabrics and artworks, new and old, that celebrated the personal stories of each family member.

An Edwardian villa in Johannesburg

My sister sent me a link to a sköna hem feature of this absolutely breathtaking Edwardian villa in Johannesburg and I immediately knew I had to share. This has got to be one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen. Those with a penchant for modern architecture, come hither and let me convert thee!!! This is country living at its finest.

Eclectic in Madrid

Posted on Fri, 23 Nov 2018 by KiM

I will never stop loving the eclectic juxtaposition of traditional and modern furnishings in a space. I had to share another project by Jaime de Pablo-Romero (YNot) because that’s what this space in Madrid is all about. Bonus points for the striped foyer and the Flos 265 swing arm light.

A designer’s home in a Swiss castle

Posted on Mon, 19 Nov 2018 by KiM

I know I am not the only one who dreams of living in a castle (France perhaps?), and I recently discovered a designer who is living my dream. Jorge Canete lives in a Swiss castle built in 1725 called le château de Saint Saphorin sur Morges and it truly is a vision from my dreams. Given its appearance inside, I would say it is something Jorge dreamt of and was able to bring to life. Books float in mid-air, a pendant light mimics a cloud, keys dangle from a crystal chandelier, pages torn from books flutter against walls….it is only missing a princess. (Photos from Jorge’s website and this feature in Côté Maison with photos by Jean-Marc Palisse)

(for more of Jorge’s work I featured this project last month in case you missed it)
