Sarah Spongberg

Posted on Tue, 22 Dec 2009 by midcenturyjo

Today I’m featuring interior designer Sarah Spongberg. I was going to start my usual little word play describing her lovely portfolio when I realised that her website had already said it best…”Simplicity, comfort, light and beauty are the bedrocks of her design approach. She looks for the unusual in ornament, luxury and comfort in personal spaces, and form and function in workspaces.” Simply lovely traditional rooms combining Sarah’s Southern roots and her New England surrounds. (Pardon the quality of some of the photos from Sarah’s site but the rooms were just too gorgeous to leave out.)

Michael Partenio

I am sitting here thinking of something all creative to say about the absolutely gorgeous photography of Michael Partenio but I can’t think straight with the pain and exhaustion I am feeling after shoveling for a solid hour (and not even finishing). I guess winter has arrived…all at once. Instead, I leave you with the following photos that really don’t need much of an introduction. They are mesmerizing. I can’t decide which of the 3 beds I want to sink into right about now.

Grant White Design

Luxurious, classy, decadent, elegant, sophisticated…these are just a few words that came to mind when I found the portfolio of London-based interior design firm Grant White Design. (Grant’s fondness for yellow makes me crave a little sunshine in my home).

DC Design House bedroom

Brocky Proxmire wrote us about the bedroom his mother, interior designer Kelley Proxmire, designed for the DC Design House. It’s stunning, so elegant and sophisticated, and had a special feature: “The big hit of the room was the now you watch it (#7) now you don’t (#8) TV. The TV is mounted on a swing arm behind the drapery panels. There is a slit in the drapery panel on the end so that swing arm may be extended several inches into the room. The size of TV (19″) is correct size for this distance of TV viewing from the bed.” Brilliant! Thanks Brocky (and Kelley!)

Hugh Leslie

Leading London interior designer Hugh Leslie has a quintessential British style. There is a gentleman’s club, country home feel but not quite like any club or fine home you have seen. There is colour and humour and passion for fine living but with more than a nod to an essential comfort factor.
