Sydney terrace house renovation given the luxury touch with bespoke cabinetry, chevron oak floors and marble, Rich purple velvet plays against caramel leather and gold metallic highlights. Darlinghurst Terrace by Tonka Andjelkovic Design.

The owners of this Cottesloe, Western Australia house wanted colonial plantation style. Part Raffles in Cambodia, part safari lodge in Africa mixed with the Queenslander vernacular and a touch of Hamptons. Architectural and building firm Humphrey Homes created this bespoke home with emphasis on relaxed family living without sacrificing style. Wide verandahs and French doors are perfect for the Australian climate.

Last weekend while the husband and I were in Toronto participating in the Fall Antique & Vintage Market we FINALLY got to visit Green Light District. Deborah and David started this shop here in Ottawa but a few years ago packed up and moved themselves and the store to Toronto. This was my first time in Toronto since the move so I was stoked to check out their new digs in the really fun neighbourhood of Roncesvalles (a short jaunt from downtown). We met them at the shop where I toured around drooling over all their wares and snapped photos, then we all went for dinner a 2 minute walk down the street at Hopgood Foodliner (amazing drinks and food – try the Newfie Fried Rice!). I really can’t wait to go back to GLD and check out more of that ‘hood. Thank you so much Deborah and David! Missed you guys!

Just beyond the Subway is The Chocolateria – OMG! Need to definitively stop in there on the next visit.

Their sign from the Ottawa shop looking right at home against a beautifully restored brick wall.

That petal table is so freaking cute. And such incredible craftsmanship.

They have REAL butterfly chairs complete with leather covers and steel bases. I have always wanted one of those.

(Mom – you need this lamp!)

Included in the photo above are the most beautiful dishes I have ever seen – Wonkiware, made by an artist in South Africa. I have a set (blogged here) and they give me butterflies every time I use them – I kid you not I love them that much.

I bought that mostly black vase for my mom a few years ago for Christmas, and on this trip I decided I needed one too. 🙂 (I also have a fat one similar to the one in the middle – seen in this post along with most of my Wonkiware)

Those paisley patterned plates are on my wish list.

That dark brown leather chair on the right is also on my wish list.

If I had not of found my tulip dining chairs I would be ordering a set of these leather saddle dining chairs. *swoon*

I have the chair above (blogged here) – I chose black cord and black leather but the combo above is maybe even more gorgeous.

The shop has the coolest little courtyard in back. Featuring the Acapulco chair and footstool.

I unfortunately have never had the pleasure of renting/owning a home that didn’t have an unfinished and often really gross basement, so this project has me VERY EXCITED. H2 Design + Build converted a dark, dingy unfinished basement into a light filled family hub in the historic Seattle neighborhood of Capitol Hill. This seemingly ambitious project included the addition of a new staircase, mudroom, guest suite, kitchenette, family room, recreational room, and laundry room. The owners wanted it to feel like an extension of the rest of the house so they wanted high end details which work so SO well here. Now I want to redo my basement! (Check out previous features of their work here and here)

This apartment in Paris’ 9th arrondissement is everything I love about this city – the stunning mouldings and windows, and the residents’ love for eclectic decor and vintage furnishings. Here you have some mid century and classic mixed with modern (that Ligne Roset Facett lounge chair is HOT) that always works in an intriguing way. It is however unfortunate that the original flooring seems to have been replaced. 🙁 Details on this home and its inhabitants can be found on The Socialite Family.
