I found myself on the website of James Cleary Architecture a while ago and was…dumfounded by this gut renovation of a Park Slope brownstone. To note in particular, the playful pod that wraps the dining area’s walls and ceiling. The pod gives this space its own presence within the larger room while concealing HVAC equipment and the building’s plumbing risers from sight. Perhaps I am really on the fence with this concept because I cannot tear myself away from the horror of the pale yellow walls, and when combined with red accents and a floral wallpaper that really does nothing for me…but I am finding this “pod” very cavelike and bizarre. I think the kitchen cabinetry set up along the entire space is not really something I would have done either. It is a stunning home and I imagine a vast improvement from before the renovation, but this one is throwing me for a loop. Thoughts?

Anastasia Faiella sent along some photos of a project she worked on this past year. It is the remodel of a 2200 sq ft condo in the Russian Hill Area of San Francisco with absolutely glorious views (including the Golden Gate bridge!). Anastasia’s client deemed this her “dream home” so she went all out, including all new custom furnishings. Dream home indeed! I would be happy with just that rooftop deck! I love that the kitchen is not large but it is so well planned that it even hosts a large flat screen TV AND a fireplace. Great job Anastasia! (P.S. Check out more of her work here and here)

Summer time is all about being outside enjoying the weather and it’s the perfect time to consider tarting up that often forgotten extra room in your house… the garden. Even a small space can do the job like this wonderful courtyard designed by Adam Robinson Design.

I am head over heels in love with this home and had to share. Discovered on Mad & Bolig, it is the residence of British interior designer Gabrielle Blackman. Paint-chipped floor boards and shades of grey on the walls are the perfect backdrop for industrial, mid-century and antique finds. A subtle edginess.

I thought I would share a little bit of Femina eye candy before I head out for a day of errands since this is my day off from my government job. I hate that alot of my days off end up like this, with a to-do list a mile long so I could use a little pick-me-up with these photos below. I shouldn’t complain too much – on my list are items like find some decorations for my new blue/black and white kitchen, and visit/feed my stray kittens – which is a daily event that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming (as of 2 days ago the littlest one has decided he likes me petting him!). Happy Friday folks!
